I think my first crochet resolution would be to start making my Christmas presents EARLY this year and to actually get them done, I’d also like to get my act together between now and the summer when all the craft show’s open up so I can maybe start selling my wares this year. I’d love to expand my horizon and work on making my first sweater or something besides hats, scarfs and anything else round.

  2. Caroline says:

My resolution is to crochet an afghan. I’ve wanted to do it for so long but I’ve never done it.

  3. Julia says:

I agree with Angie on the Christmas presents thing. Also, I’m going to finally make use of my Etsy store this year!

  4. Sue says:

I had a “resolution” to take up crochet again but never got to it. So this year I have goals. I am writing them down along with a plan on how to complete them and I will be taking up crochet again. I know this task will include looking at your archives to help me do it. Thanks for all your great posts here. Happy New Year.

  5. Andrea says:

I am going to finally start the king size afghan I keep saying I’m going to make one day. I also vow to put hooks in the hands of at least 5 friends this year to help expand our charity CAL. Last but not least, I vow to create at least 2 patterns his year rather than just letting them rattle in my head. =D

  6. Cecelia says:

My resolution is to use the yarn and crochet thread in my arsenal for two projects before I purchase yarn for a new project. It will be tough, I already have a couple of online shopping carts full of yarn!

  7. Diane says:

I am going to finish projects rather than just starting them! Really.

  8. Jasmin says:

This year I want to start making more wearables. They always seems so scary to make but I think I’m ready to take on the challenge now!

  9. Ladee Peeches says:

Happy New Year, I think that I will try something different this year, I am going to try and make a few sweaters or something different than afghans, baby blankets and hats.

  10. Mary says:

My resolution is to crochet something besides scarves and blankets! I’m going to master hat making!

  11. SoSaje says:

I would like to have fewer WIPs at the end of the year, than I do at the beginning! That means I’m actually going to have to FINISH a few projects, and not just begin them. Ha! 🙂 Also, there’s a Christmas nativity ami that I’ve been wanting to do for a few years now … if I start NOW, I can just do one piece a month and it’ll totally be done in time for Christmas. Happy crocheting!!

  12. Alicia says:

Like a few of the posters above, i too will make use of my etsy store, start christmas projects early(like the middle of the summer), get a few of my wearables together so i can do an upcoming craft show or two and learn to crochet left handed.

  13. Linda says:

I’m gonna make hats scarfs and mittens for the homeless I would never do it before cause I didn”t think my crocheting was good enuff

  14. Bunnie says:

Boy, oh, boy, I’m going to finish all the projects I started last year. This is going to be TOUGH, worse than losing weight since I’ve already seen patterns to-die-for.

  15. Jenny says:

My crochet resolution will be to make something for myself. I made so many christmas gifts, baby shower gifts, and things for other people last year. Tried a lot of new ideas, hats, scarves, blanket, baby clothes, even a purse, but nothing for me. I want to make myself a pair of socks and maybe a hobo bag.

  16. Robin HG says:

I don’t make resolutions. However, I am focusing more on completing projects and THEN start something new. Also, better budgeting. I have yarn all over the house but want more. I never let a sale past me by.

  17. Dionne says:

I am going to finish my projects that I have started. I will make a list and cross them off once they are DONE. My second resolution is to reach out more in my community with the crochet/knitting group that I started nearly 2 years ago. We are called YARN PROJECTS FROM THE HEART. In the past, we sent a lot of our work out of state or out of the country. I, now, want to focus locally. As a group, we have a goal for 2011 of getting 500 followers on facebook. Check us out and hit “like” to support what we do. I appreciate what Rachel has done here. We have had some new members because they saw us on Crochet Spot. YAY!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve actually made a crochet resolution, which was giving a try to crochet with T-shirt yarn. And I’m already done with it!, Yesterday I made a ball out of my hubby’s T-shirt and managed to crochet a bowl for bath accessories. Now I’m going to crochet something bigger with this yarn, an area rug for example. I also plan to destash, and this is my second resolution. Happy crocheting to you all guys!

  19. pldrake says:

I want to make a few more items for me for wear, and to continue enjoying the crochet/knit groups in which I participate. It’s such fun to get together with fellow crocheters and compare pointers, resources (the new yarn shops that are opening, opportunities for charity crocheting, etc.) I also need to use the yarn I have!!

  20. Sarah Dee says:

I have to finish all my crochet projects going on right now (about 10) before I start another. I am not going to start another until they are done. I really need to stop my addiction of starting crochet projects, and never finishing them. From now on, one (maybe two) crochet projects at a time!

  21. dj says:

to finish a baby afghan which has been sitting in one of my crochet containers for 9 months and crochet a new project every 2 weeks. use up my scrap yarn pieces to create one of a kind items. maybe attempt to stop printing up so many crochet patterns via the internet. ha ha so addicting i must admit.
crochet items for the local children’s hospital, women’s shelters, cancer caps .

  22. dj says:

ha ha ha forgot to mention…i found a baby afghan i started in junior high school…ya from 1971 ! think i can find yarn to match ? ya ha ha ha most likely not but will attempt a color combo and try to remember the pattern so i can finish the afghan and save for my someday grandchildren.

  23. Melissa says:

I suffer from Craft ADHD, it’s BAD. My resolution is to only start one project @ a time, FINISH that project before I start another.

  24. Jennifer says:

My crochet resolution is to use my new found hobby as a 365 day project to focus and get things done more often. I’d also like to use it donate items as well.

  25. Elizabeth says:

My 2011 Crochet Resolution is to complete everything I start/have started. I have a terrible habit of starting a project and getting distracted by another project and not going back to the first one and completing it.

  26. Barb says:

I’ve been crocheting for 52 years!!! And I’m getting bored with it. So I’m looking for new things to do with crocheting that will be a challenge. I picked up a book on how to make cables with crochet, and they look much more than just fptc and bptc. So I’m determined to master that and make something with it, preferably a sweater for *me*. And I have a bedspread to make for my granddaughter that has to be finished by the time she goes into a double bed, which will be this summer. So I better get my butt in gear, but I haven’t found or thought of the right pattern yet. I’m thinking of designing one using different stitches and patterns. It’s in the head right now. But that’s my New Years Resolution – do those 2 things this year. Sounds easy and do-able. Yeah, we’ll see. Happy New Year, Everyone!!!!

  27. Barb says:

I noticed that almost everyone is saying they’re going to finish their projects before starting new ones. Um, that’s been my resolution for many a year, and guess what. NEVER happens!!! I have to have a few going at the same time. And, yes, I have started more than one on the same day. I know, that’s bad. But I have to do it!!! Can’t stick to just one. If anyone here does manage to do this, please let me know how you did! Thanks! Good Luck!!!!!

  28. Kelly says:

Finish my ripple afghan and regularly work on Christmas gifts so I’ll be done by the end of October. May it be!

  29. Michelle says:

Resolved: To reduce my yarn stash 50% by spring. My husband cautiously suggested that this will only work if I don’t buy any more yarn. So… also a yarn buying moratorium until spring. (And it’s hard not to buy yarn in winter…!)

  30. Mary Housel says:

This will be my first year to have a crochet new years resolution!

I’m resolving to not buy any more yarn (via buying or freecycling) until I use what I have!

I’m resolving to crochet a little bit every day until a project is done, and then I’ll start a new one…

And, I’m resolving to try a new pattern every time I start a project, so that I’m not stuck in a rut 😉

Good luck to everyone here on their new projects and endeavors!

  31. Valorie Davis says:

Looking over the previous resolutions, I’m getting some good ideas! I want to lose some weight, so I’m going to reach for my crochet hook and not for my plate!

  32. helen van zyl says:

2011? to crotchet a lot of wow items, I started with flowers and tea cozies, this year is Amigurumi year, from easy to very very intricate. And I vow to keep them all.

  33. Squirrely Girly says:

This year, I want to make more amigurumi! I love Japanese stuff, so I think I’ll enjoy it! 🙂
