Crochet Blogger – Corinne MungerBy Corinne Munger – 11 Comments
Yes, that is a crocheted version of myself! lol What can I say? I LOVE to crochet everything!
Welcome! My name is Corinne Munger and I’m a blogger here at crochetspot.com. I was THRILLED when Rachel asked me to join her team of creative talent! I feel honored to be able to bring you my crochet experiences, techniques and patterns.
My background starts some 43 years ago when my Italian, left-handed Grandmother gave me my first crochet lesson. My first “square” looked like swiss cheese with all the holes! But she knew I was serious about learning, and even though I was right-handed, we trudged through – and here I am today teaching others.
Passing down this very old craft (did you know that crochet originated over 150 years ago?) is special to me as I know not only the peace it brings, but I also know that it allows the crocheter an outlet to express themselves as an artist and can supply them with a lifetime of heirloom gifts!
Last year, I taught over 150 students to crochet in a classroom – from ages 8 to 65. Anyone can crochet, given the right teacher. I design my own patterns (two of my most popular are for sale at my etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/Dianasgrl). Many I just crochet, and don’t write patterns (like Narci). I was an exclusive crocheted basket maker for a wine gift basket company in New York, where I was born and raised. I’ve sold at many craft shows both in New York and Colorado and continue to do so today. Though crochet is my first love, I am involved in just about every other craft known to woman! LOL I am the owner and designer at www.uscamobags.com and write on my own blog at mixedupmediaartist.blogspot.com. I also frequently submit projects like “Pink Balls” and t-shirt handbags at Corinne’s Craftsy Projects
I incorporate my crochet into other mediums I work with as well. I attach crochet to wood and fabric to expand it’s already wonderful potential of items that can be made. I crochet in 3d and free form, and I crochet fashions. My favorite thing to crochet? Accessories! I LOVE scarves and hats! I’m sure you’ll see lots of that coming from me in future posts.
What bothers me about today’s crochet is the staleness of so many patterns out there. They still seem so old and outdated. I’m here to change that. I make “fashionable” sweaters and blankets, “cute” hats and “feminine” scarves. Join me in this venture, won’t you? You won’t be disappointed. Be sure to bookmark crochetspot.com and check back often for new patterns.
And as always, feel free to ask me questions. I’ll always try to answer you the best I can.
Blessings and Happy Crocheting!
