I find that like a lap robe sized afghan that ya might have made in the past or currently are a great present for a person that has to use an electric wheel chair or a go buggy as i call mine. Believe me in the summer the seats on them get real hot also and it so helps cool them and make them much cozier for the person having to use the power chairs. Stay Blessed and think of a nice random act of kindness!!

I have a lot of pain in my hands and find it’s easier to crochet when it’s hot than when it’s cold. I leave the large projects for when it’s cold out so I can use them to keep me warm! LOL

What would you like me to share? If its the jelly bottle toppers, I just crochet a doily that’s about six inches around. I’ll tie a bow or raffia around it and voila. I make them in reddish colors to match the jelly. After they eat the jelly, they can use the doily if they like. Or regift it if they don’t!

In the summer I like to crochet small afghans for our local animal shelter. It gives rescued animals a nice and soft place to snuggle up in their cage. This is also a great way to use up yarn leftovers. Shelters are always looking for blankets, towels, etc for the animals.

My favorite this summer is barefoot sandals. Make them with cotton thread and your feet stay cool. They’re perfect for any occasion, just lounging around the house, the beach, and you can even spruce up plain sandals by pairing them together.

For some odd reason, summer is the time I like to make socks or hats that I give away later to the shelter. If it was something I intend to keep, I think I’d be making bags, bottle holders, and possibly a that nifty checker’s blanket that I saw once…

Its not too hot to crochet with thread. I’m making my doilies and jar toppers (for my home made grape jelly bottles) for Christmas gifts and a fall wedding gift – thinking ahead.
