Crochet Pattern: Bias Ascot

An ascot is the perfect way to transition from winter to spring, especially when it’s made in fun colors. This ascot is a parallelogram crocheted from corner to corner. The shaping may be a little difficult for beginners to understand. Be sure to read the pattern instructions carefully.

Skill Level:

Finished Size: 3″ (7.5 cm) wide, 41″ (104 cm) long

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn (approximately 75 yards)
Crochet Hook J (6.0 mm)

Gauge:
6 dc = 2″ (5 cm)
3 rows = 3″ (7.5 cm)

Crochet Pattern: Bias Ascot
Row 1: Ch 2, sc in second ch from hook, turn: 1 sc
Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in sc, turn: 2 sc
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc2tog, sc in last sc, turn: 3 sc
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc, turn: 4 sc
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, sc 2nd and 3rd sc tog, sc in 3rd and 4th sc, turn: 5 sc
Row 6: Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last 2 sc, turn: 6 sc

    Is this right that there is a decrease in row 3? I would think that there would be a increase in that row.
