Crochet Pattern: Broomstick Lace Summer Scarf

By Rachel Choi – 7 Comments

New in the Crochet Spot Store, this decorative scarf is made using repetitive broomstick lace stitches that create a subtle striped pattern. The scarf is crocheted with 2 strands of size 10 thread held together making it a very light and airy scarf, great for the summer and warm weather months. Using 2 strands of thread also allows for the scarf to be multicolored, so feel free to pick your 2 favorite colors to crochet with!

Alright Rachel, you’ve got me. I will give broomstick lace another try because this scarf is so pretty! I have tried it a few times now, and it is just so tedious and unnatural for me that I always give up. I can do it correctly, it just takes me ages and I end up throwing the yarn, hook and needle across the room in frustration! I think part of my problem is the way I hold the hook. I learned to hold the hook in kind of an unusual way when I learned to crochet at a very young age, and it is just not conducive to broomstick lace at all. But I will give it another go!!!

    Beautiful yarn, by the way!

Very pretty. I have no idea how to do broomstick lace, so I guess I won’t try it, but it’s very very beautiful.

I just started the pattern and it’s turn out great! It’s pretty easy to work up once you get started. I’m a broomstick beginner and the “Before you begin tips” in the pattern helps out a lot. I think if you don’t know how to do the broomstick stitch then you can use this pattern and it’ll teach you!
