Mandee, when you do the “sl st in top of beginning ch-3″ you’re not making another ch 3. Instead you are making a slip stitch into the top of the ch 3 that you made at the beginning of the round to join the end of the round to the beginning. Also, the number after the colon is the stitch count for the round telling you how many stitches you made on that round.

I know this is really simple but I’m having major issues. Could someone email me a video I really want to make these. I start getting lost at chain 3:8 HDc and then u chain 2 won’t that leave gaps??

I LOVE it!! I just finished it and hung it on my keyring! I am forever in search of my elusive chapstick! I am so excited to know exactly where it is and not have to worry about leaving at home when i don’t carry my purse!! Thanks for the pattern!!

Hi Yvonne, after you make the chain 2 at the beginning of the round feel free to put a stitch marker (scrap of yarn, safety pin or paper clip, etc.) into the second chain that you made. That way when you go to make the slip stitch you’ll make it in the stitch with the stitch marker in it.

I love this pattern and have made several now. I’m not sure I am doing the slip stitch in the right place because I’m getting holes where I “sl st in top of beginning ch-2″. Does that make sense? So, when I’m done, there are obvious larger spaces where I have joined. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I made a bunch for stocking stuffers this Christmas, which everyone loved. I’m teaching my step-daughter to crochet and she just finished her first cozy last weekend. She gave it to her mom who thought it was the cutest thing ever!

Oh! and after I chained at the top but before I joined it to the other side, I slid the key ring on from the bottom of the cozy. It has to be big enough to fit around the cozy, and it just slides right on, then I did the single crochet. If that makes sense.

Love it! I was trying to come up with my own pattern for one of these, and I had a flap and a button but was trying to figure out a button hole and a place for the key ring, but this is just PERFECT and I made it in like 20 minutes. I have around 30 crochet gifts to get in the mail before Christmas and this pattern just made that possible!

Hi Jamie, the 8 half double crochets are all made into the third chain from your hook. The third chain from hook is also the first chain that you made. Let me know if you need more help!
