Hi Shayla, yes the slip stitch goes into the third chain, which is the top chain of the three chains at the beginning for the round. You don't double crochet into the slip stitch though. You only work into all the double crochets. Sometimes folks accidentally crochet into the slip stitch and then end up having extra stitches on their round.

Love this for many different uses! I am a beginner when it comes to crochet "patterns" though. I learned a lot by watching my grandmother crochet. I wanted to clarify something so I don't continue to struggle if you wouldn't mind helping me out! (anyone for that matter)

"sl st in top of ch-3 joining to beginning of round: 12 dc"

so after you've created this circle, you sl st into the third chain. now where I become confused: do you dc in that 3rd chain that you just sl st in? or no?

Thanks for the pattern. I made one for a gifted bottle of Irish Mist. I shortened the neck a bit, and also added a window so you could see the label. I love how it came out. Thanks!

I just found your website yesterday and love it! I would consider myself somewhere between a beginner and advanced beginner. I made this wine bottle cover last night in less than two hours and love it! Your instuction are so easy to understand, I've already found several patterns I want to try...just need to find the time!

This will be great to dress up the carafe I'm using as a vase for some silk flowers from my son's wedding. Instead of the drawstring, I'm going to slip my wrist corsage over the neck of the carafe. Thanks! =^..^=

I made several of these and donated them to a charity golf tournament raffle. They are a hit!!! The one that turned out really pretty was a rust & navy blue. Beautiful!

Thanks so much for the great pattern!

I actually made this as a cover for a bottle of rum (bride's favorite!) for a wedding gift. I just shortened the neck a bit and it fit great! I used their wedding colors (orange and brown as it it an autumn wedding).

It looks so good! Thanks a bunch!
