Crochet Pattern: Flower Power Garland

By Claire Ortega-Reyes – 17 Comments
Pretty, festive garlands are traditionally made up of flowers. Let’s make a crochet version that won’t wilt!

Unlike other crochet garlands, this one is made in one go.. So, no making separate motifs (and no yarn ends to weave in!). Using worsted weight yarn and an H hook, this garland grows long, fast.

Skill Level: crochet skill level easy

Finished Size: as long as you want

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn
Crochet Hook H (5.00 mm)
crochet yarn size 4

Gauge: not needed

Crochet Pattern: Flower Power Garland

(Ch 8, sl st in 3rd ch from hook) 5 times, [ch 13, sl st in 5th ch from hook creating a ring, (ch 2, dc, tr, dc, ch 2, sl st) into ring 5 times, ch 11, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, (ch 8, sl st in 3rd ch from hook) 4 times], repeat directions from [ to ] as many times as needed.

A great way to store the garland is by winding them like yarn. It prevents tangling, and makes it easy to bring out each time you need to add a little decor to a celebration.

Hello marinahunny, you can use garlands to spruce things up a bit at home or on a special occasion–just hang them up against the walls or across the ceiling. Some garlands are also used to decorate large objects, like a Christmas tree for example. 🙂

My teen daugther has been bugging me to make “lots” of flowers to decorate her room. I showed her this pattern and she loves it. Going now to make it in a teal color.

  9. Ann says:

At my 7 yr old granddaughter’s suggestion, I shortened it and made a necklace for her. I just made it with the 5 “bumps, flower and 5 more “bumps”. Sometimes I substituted a butterfly for the flower. I made them with Lion Brand Glitterspun and whatever “sparkly” yarn I have around.

I am SO making this for my daughter’s room! But I think I might have to do alternating colors so that the garland “grows” w/ her and I don’t need to make any new ones… LOL

I went back to mo to visit my daughter and gdaughter and they insisted I make this lovely garland to hang around her closet door. It was much easier than I thought it would be. Easy and they loved it.
