Crochet Pattern: Keep Calm Crown Applique

By Amy Yarbrough – 14 Comments
There are lots of “Keep Calm and…” sayings going around about many different subjects. I was inspired by the crown and set out to make my own version. The first try was sketchy, so I made some changes. Initially I used thread, and it was straining on the eyes, but when I was finally satisfied, I tried it out in worsted weight and thought it looked a whole lot clearer. So try it in your favourite yarn and tell me what you think! "Keep Calm" Crown Appliqué

Really nice! Have you seen this crown that a local hospital gave out to the babies born on the same day as Prince George? http://www.ksat.com/news/local-sa-babies-share-birthday-with-royal-baby/-/478452/21122942/-/90fqygz/-/index.html

Hi, loving this pattern, i’m a little confused on row 10 though. After the first time you sl sl in the 20ch space next to first 3-ch, it says ‘sl sl in next chain’, which chain?! Sorry, i’m usually more of a knitter than a crocheter, so i’m afraid it’s just that my crocheting instincts are a little rusty!
thanks for sharing this idea =)

  7. Hi Jacey,

You are working along the ch-20 loop. So far you have been slip stitching along to the middle; you should have 9 sl sts. Then from that last sl st you chain 3. The two ch-3’s cover two chains, and there should be one chain in the middle where you make the cross, and then you will have the two ch-3’s on the left side taking up two chains. If you followed the instructions you should have enough stitches. But without seeing your project up close, I can’t tell you where you went wrong. Tell me if this helps. And good luck!

Thank you for the pattern. Can you explain the repeat on
Row 4? I am not doing something correct.

    • Hello Melody, you’re very welcome!
The row explains how to make crossed stitches with a gap of 1 stitch in the middle. Could you specify what kind of problem you are having?
