Gladys, rows 2 – 5 are rows of single crochet. You’re basically going to work single crochet stitches across the entire row. Let me know what part of the rows is confusing and I’ll try and explain it further.

I am working on the purse for my 2 year old daughter. I am using size 10 crochet thread. I have made a few changes to make the bag big enough since I am using a smaller thread. So far it looks super cute. Will let you know the out come.

OMG! I was looking for a quick, but cute bag to make as gifts and I think this will work out great. Its just big enough (as written) to hold keys, small wallet and sunglasses.

Can’t wait to make this.

Question?: Has anyone made this using WW Cotton? Wondering how it would come out. I have a LARGE skein of Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in Sunshine and may try it out.

I started making this yesterday in two different colours. I made mine bigger and will make it taller too. I chained 44, I think it’s the perfect size. Changing colours ever row looks amazing, almost checkerboard. Great pattern. One of CS’s best!
