Crochet Pattern: Mesh Lace Beanie – 5 Sizes

By Rachel Choi – 7 Comments
New in the Crochet Spot Store, this beanie is very light weight and airy, great for warm weather days when you still want to wear a hat but not sweat your head off. The lacy, openwork pattern makes the beanie nice and stretchy no matter what yarn you decide to use. It also makes the beanie super quick to crochet. Feel free to dress up your beanie by adding your own flower or applique. Since this pattern is made for baby to adult sizes, you can make one for everyone in the family!

  1. Mesh hats are very fashionable. This would be great in white cotton yarn for very hot summer days and also great in a glittery or shimmery yarn for elegant evening wear.

It would be so cute on a little girl with a flower sewn on the side.

Just curious – are these “in” again? I remember when Agnetha in ABBA had one of these, and I sooooooo wanted one. Maybe I should get me on now? It’s only 37 years later LOL

I love these hats and plan to make a few of them. For the summer, what type of yarn would you suggest? Could these be made slouchy-like?

    • Rachel says:

Hi Stacie, I used caron simply soft yarn in the photo, but you can really use and medium weight yarn that you like. It can be made to be slouchy if you keep increasing the rounds at the beginning. If you end up needing more help while crocheting feel free to let me know and I’ll help you out!
