Crochet Pattern: Out of the Woods Glasses Case

In our love of personalization let’s crochet for everything, including the necessary. Glasses need protection but they also need to be you. Being made of crochet fabric this case has a fair amount of elasticity but if you find your size glasses need a little more room simply add a couple extra chains to both front and back rectangles to begin with and continue with the patterns instructions! Out of the Woods Glasses Case

Skill Level:

Finished Size: 6 3/4” (17 cm) long, 2 3/4” (7 cm) wide

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn (approximately 25 yards of color A, and 16 yards of color B)
Crochet hook H (5.00 mm)
Sewing Needle and Thread
Button of your choice crochet yarn size 4

Gauge:
Rows 1-8 in pattern measures 2 1/4” (5.5 cm) x 2 1/4” (5.5 cm)

Crochet Pattern: Out of the Woods Glasses Case

Front Rectangle
Row 1: with color B, ch 8, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across: 7 sc
Row 2 – 20: ch 1, sc in each sc across: 7 sc
Row 21: ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, sl st in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last 2 sc: 7 sts
Finish off.

Back Rectangle
Row 1: with color A, ch 8, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across: 7 sc
Row 2 – 20: ch 1, sc in each sc across: 7 sc
Row 21: ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, hdc in next 3 sc, sc in last 2 sc: 7 sts
Row 22: ch 1, sc in first sc, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in last st: 7 sts
Do not finish off, continue with assembly.

Assembly
Sl st across row 22 of back rectangle. Holding both rectangles together, insert hook through both thicknesses and sc along side until corner is reached, 3 sc in corner, sc along bottom until corner is reached, 3 sc in corner, sc along remaining side until corner is reached, sl st on side of row 22, finish off.

Braids
With color A, cut 3 strands about 5” (12.5 cm) long. Holding all 3 strands together, tie a knot at one end. Braid all 3 strands together and secure braid with a knot. Fold braid in half and tie together. Turning case over to the back, use your hook to pull braid through the back thickness. Braid should come out the back at desired point, fold over the top and reach to the front. Sew button to case at the point where the braid reaches farthest.
