Crochet Pattern: Sparkler Flip Flops

By Emilee Gettle – 2 Comments
A short dirve through town and one can see tents popping up in parking lots with every kind of firework imaginable. While I love watching them on the 4th of July, I’m not brave when it comes to lighting them. Sparklers, smoke bombs, and those weird black snakes that grow when lighted are about as adventurous as I get. While strolling through the yarn section this week at a local craft store I spotted a new selection of glitter eyelash yarn. So, inspired by the night fireworks shows that I’ve been enjoying I decided to make this pattern for sparkler flip flops.

Skill Level:

Finished Size (crocheted area of flip flop): 4″ (10 cm) long and 1/2″ (1 cm) wide

Materials:
Flip Flops (child’s size large)
Glitter Eyelash Yarn (approximately 15 yards depending on shoe size)
Crochet Hook H (5 mm)
Scissors

crochet yarn size 5

Gauge:
4 sc stitches = 1/2 inch

Crochet Pattern: Sparkler Flip Flops

Row 1: Leave about a 4-inch tail of yarn and sl st the yarn onto the flip flop. For a child’s size large, sc approximately 50 times on each side of the thong enclosing the plastic in yarn: 100 sc

Carefully weave in the loose ends, realizing the shoes will experience wear.

Note: If you child’s shoe size is larger or smaller adjust the sc sts accordingly so each side of the thong is wrapped in yarn.
