You should have 49 dc. Remember you are also adding the ch 2 at the beginning of row 1.

if I am chaining 97 how many dc do I end up with… I am having a tough time with this

Hi Joni, chaining an odd number is correct. Be careful when you are working row 1 though, it is really easy to miscount when you are skipping chains especially since you are working a long chain. Take your time with it!

Hi Melinda, yes, you are correct! You will double crochet in every other chain. You’re making 1 chain, then skipping 1 chain, then making the double crochet into the next ch. It’ll sort of look like a mesh of blocks.

i want to make this scarf but i am very new to this. after i make the first chain of 87, that is where i get stuck. on the first row do i double chain in every other chain ? thank for the help
