Hi Sandi, on row 1 after you do the "sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across" you'll have a total of 24 single crochets. Then after you "sc in each ch on opposite side of foundation ch" you'll make another 24 single crochets, for a total of 48 single crochets. I am new to crocheting. I am a bit confused as to how to get to 48 single crochet, if I am starting with 25. Do I work in the front and back of the stitch at the same time.

Please help! I would like to crochet this purse,

hey Rachel.I’ve never made anything that’s not a hat before,I was having trouble understanding if I have to make the flap and the belt separate from the bag and then saw it on.but I think I got it now,I must make them separate no?

this is my new fav. site. hey there I used your pattern to make a a bigger bag/hippie type bag without the flap though. the problem now is on how I make the bag,do I make it separate or crochet it to the bag? I’m so confused it’s really not clear to me. if you ca pliz help me there,thankx…..

Hi Jane, sew the purse by hand with a yarn needle and the same yarn you used to crochet it. This way it will blend in with your work. You can whip stitch it together, here's a tutorial on that: How to Whip Stitch in Crochet

By sew, you mean on a machine, or by hand with a yarn needle? If by hand, what stitch type? and using thread or yarn? thanks
