    Hi Rachel,

As I said I am a beginner. I am a little confused. Row 17 says to dc in next 19 sc. 19 dc. I still have 57 sc remaining. Did I do something wrong? It doesn’t seem right to just stop there and go to row 18.

  4. Rachel says:

    Thanks Connie for asking!

That was actually a typo and is suppose to say 38 dc. Thanks you so much for find that! This starts the beginning of the flap that will fold over.

I just fixed it, thanks again for finding it and let me know if anything else is confusing!

  5. Connie Ludgate says:

    Hi Rachael,

OK I figured out my mistake. It was in the very beginning of sc in each side of the chain. Now I am on track but nowhere close to getting it done in an hour lol.

  6. Rachel says:

Great Connie! I’m so excited to see how it goes 🙂

  7. Connie Ludgate says:

Well here is my next problem. I think I figured it out. Row 18 indicates to repeat what is inside the “( )” six times. However I think you have to skip four each time to make it come out right. So it seems like the first “(” should be in front of skip 4. At least that is what I had to do to get acrosss the row correctly. Is that right?

    Connie

  8. Rachel says:

Woops! The “(” is suppose to be in front of the skip 4. Thanks for finding that too! Gee, I don’t know what I would do without you 😀 Thanks so much for finding it!

  9. Connie Ludgate says:

    Hi Rachel,

You are very welcome. Glad to be of help especially when I am so new at this. Well I finally finished it. It doesn’t look quite like yours but close enough.
Very cute little clutch. Thank you for the pattern.

    Hey Rachel,

I am a very avid crocheter, i see lots of cute little designs here and am very fond of doing everything. In fact i have already completed 2 of this cute little clutch and gifted it to my friends. Thanks for sharing these things free.

  13. Vims says:

    Hi Rachel,

First of all thanks to the many lovely patterns that you have shared:) I love this clutch and just finishing mine in chenille yarn. I found a typo in rows 19 and 20 of the flap edge. You have said (tr in next dc….) where it should have been (tr,ch1,tr,ch1,tr,ch1,tr) in the middle ch1 space of the previous row tr shell by looking at the picture of the finished purse.

please correct me if I am mistaken.

    hugs

  14. Rachel says:

Hi Vim! This is what happens when I don’t test the pattern! LOL. I guess I will call this pattern testing time.

But yes you’re right. Thanks for finding it for me. I really appreciate it.

  15. Mary says:

Love this pattern; but I’m curious as to why you recommend a medium weight yarn and a 3.25 hook. I’m kind of ignoring that recommendation…still curious though. Thanks for a lovely addition –

    • Rachel says:

      Hi Mary!
I love my 3.25 mm hook! If you haven’t noticed already a lot of my pattern use it 🙂 I like making certain things tight and neat so that there aren’t any holes. But yes, feel free to ignore it if you choose to use a different sized hook, there is nothing wrong with that.

  16. I don’t understand how to crochet in other side of foundation chain. Do I need to ch 1 and turn? I would really like to make your cute classy clutch.
    Thank you so much,
    Shirley

    • Rachel says:

Hi Shirley, to crochet on the other side of foundation chain, you have to turn the chain so that it is upside down. You are going to insert your hook into the remaining loops of each chain. This way your last stitch will end up next to the first stitch you made. Sort of like crocheting in a circular fashion.

  17. Marcia Kirby says:

Rachel- what would be the comparable letter crochet hook for a 3.25mm crochet hook? Is there a conversion chart for the different sizes of hooks?

  18. Valerie says:

Love the clutch. A bit confused on the round 2. When I get to the end of the row, how do I crochet down the other side without crocheting in the end of the rows making it gain stitches each row?

  19. Rachel says:

It’s like crocheting in a spiral Valerie. You make your stitches by inserting your hook into the stitches of the previous round.

  20. Debbie Lee Matthews says:

Hi!! Greetings from Trinidad & Tobago! I just wanted to let you know that i love this pattern- thank you so much for sharing it. I just learned to crochet (yays!) and simple patterns like this that look soooooo good once completed, encourage me to stick with it.

    Again- thanks!! *hugs*

  21. Christina says:

Ugh! I strongly dislike the SC stitch! *sigh* well I guess just for me to suck it up!

  22. Sunshine says:

Such an adorable clutch! I have to make it! Thanks for the easy pattern Rachel. Just a quick question: to change the size, do I have to chain a multiple of a number or just chain until its as big as I want? Once again, LOVE the clutch! 😀

    • Rachel says:

Hi Sunshine, for a bigger size I’d recommend using a larger hook or a thicker yarn. There isn’t much of a multiple count in this pattern.

  23. Sunshine says:

Thanks for the tip! I was going make a pencil pouch. I’m going to try an I or J hook and see if it works.

  24. lolaineia says:

Thanks for the pattern. It’s really easy but very cute! It fits all of my crocheting supplys!
