I too am a crochet addict.i discovered that if I made items in 2categories of smaller ones like doilies, caps, hats evening bags and larger projects like stoles, baby blankets,table-cloth edgings then i do use the smaller ones more often and the larger ones on special occasions. In fact I have also made a Indian sari border of 9yards which I use often and a blouse too to match.the sari blouse is short and fits snuggly as one sees in Bollywood song sequences.yes I love to use my crocheted stuff as many times I can!

I used to wear my crocheted shawl at work everyday in the spring/fall/winter, until this summer when I accidentally put a hole in it: and it was getting so worn that it wasn't worth trying to salvage. I'm in the process of getting yarn to replace it though! Right now I have a "security blanket" made when I was on sick leave this spring: between my cat and myself it's being used constantly!

Now that I live in Guam where it is 85 degrees F. everyday, I need to find more patterns for the hotter weather. I love the look of the tanks now that have a crocheted racer back and when my yarn arrives from the movers that will be my first project!
I also love all my tote bags and since I walk the dogs everyday my keychain is crocheted with a poop bag holder. I crocheted leashes, but they stretch so much, not sure if they would be strong enough for my two 60 lb dogs!

I've made and worn many pairs of slippers. Worn out actually! I've now designed my own with a removable outer sole so when that wears out I can whip it off and put on a new one :) At the moment I'm working on sizing up that pattern to make a pair for my Dad. I don't wear scarves or hats, but I have made many as gifts (and slippers) which have gone as far as Greece and the USA (I'm in Australia). I have also made 2 cardigans, but I'm having an issue with those. When they are first made, they fit perfectly, but within a few hours of wearing them, they start to drop! The first one I made started out mid thigh length. Once it hit my knees it became an "around the house over pyjamas" cardigan. I thought it was because it was made with a fairly large hook, but I recently made my second cardigan with a much smaller hook and it has dropped terribly too. I need to move the buttons now so it doesn't fall off my shoulders. I'm very disappointed. Any ideas on how I could stop this happening? Do I maybe need to block the garments once they're finished? I really want to make more items to wear, but it seems like such a waste of time and effort if it only fits properly for a day :(

Hi,

As others, I wear my 2 knitted/crocheted jackets, poncho in the Fall when the weather is cooler. My mother made them for me over 15 years ago and they are still in great shape! She also made me many crocheted and knitted sweaters, hats and scarves which I wear from time to time. She also crocheted many jackets when my daughter was little (she is now 36) and this year her 3 year old daughter can wear it too!! When she was a baby she had several different knitted/crocheted layettes and dresses including her Christening gown. Her daughter wore it after the Christening at the restaurant. I also have a scarf which my grandmother made me when she lived in Canada for a year. She passed away 30 years ago so it is more of a memory keepsake than something to wear. Goes to show good quality yarn lasts forever!! :)
