I am just finishing my first blanket, but I don't know how to end/tie it off. The pattern calls for a border around the edge, but am not sure what to do for the sides (single Crochet in every hole?)

Hi Julie! I normally use acrylic, just because they are easy to care for (you can toss them in the washing machine) and they are fairly cheap compared to other yarns. However, you can feel the texture of different yarns and look at their labels for care instructions to see which one you like best.

You're welcome Harold! I love answering your questions.

I wrote up the pattern for blanket for you or anyone else who may want to make it. Here is the link: http://www.crochetspot.com/crochet-pattern-shell-stitch-blanket/

Hi again Harold! I haven't written a pattern for that blanket, but I can tell you how to make it! The blanket is made with shell stitches. If you aren't familiar with shell stitiches, you basically make several double crochets in one crochet stitch to make a curved shell shape. For the blanket you would repeat shell stitches on one row and on the next row you would do shell stitches but place then in between the previous row's shell stitches.

Maybe I will write up a pattern for this blanket and that will make it more clear!

Thanks for another great question Harold!
