Hi Rachel Love being subscribed to your blog when Ever I have wanted to put elastic in I have used what we call here in Aus sherring elastic the fine thin round elastic and I run it along my yarn and crochet it into the work (probably because I don’t like sewing that much LOL) but as you can get it in a variety of colours you can match it fairly closely to the yarn colour you are using but can get away with using black with darker colours as its such a small fine elastic and providing you don’t pull it or your stitches too tight gives a good result
Just one of the tips I nutted out for myself a while ago

I don’t know how long I have pondered what to do with several items I have wanted to make. I am mostly referring to headbands for my granddaughters. I believe this is the answer to my prayers and I will let you know how my first one turns out. Thanks a bunch for posting this.
