I Have UFOs

By Rachel Choi – 19 Comments

Okay, I don’t have “unidentified flying objects” although somethings I wish I do. UFO if you don’t already know stands for “unfinished object” according to cool crochet language. For some reason, there’s literally 10 UFOs on my desk and I have no clue how they got there!

Alright, I lied. I put them there. But what stumps me is why there are so many. I mean I wake up one day and impulsively start something new. What am I thinking? I already have my desk full of yarn projects that are just waiting to be finished. All they need is a couple more rows or to be sewn together.

Do you have UFOs too?

    Hey Rachel,
Yup I have about 4 UFO’s and if I leave them long enough I tend to lose interest and unravel them to use the wool for something else. I blame having a short attention span heh

    I’ve lost count! Lets see…

One oversized mile-a-minute afghan for husband that I need to finish piecing together…
a small amigurumi bird to be sewn together…
an elephant puppet/stuffed animal that I put aside when the pattern for the ears stumped me…
lots of WW cotton for ongoing dishcloths that I was going to try to sell but may instead end up being sewn together for a patchwork rug for the bedroom instead… an almost finished doily…
    a rag rug… etc.
IN ADDITION TO: yarn I bought on sale (approx. two + years ago) for a mile-a-minute afghan for myself… I have yarn stashed in my closet, under my bed, in the living room. I’m sure there’s more. : )

It makes life interesting!……….. I want to make SO MUCH!!! There just isn’t enough time in my day to do everything I want. But I keep trying!!!

I always have UFO’s – I don’t like putting projects together so I tend to let them build up and then I make myself spend a day putting things together.

I have 3 shawls going, same pattern, different yarns. Rachel, thanks for your support. I didn’t give up. I needed encouragement & appreciate your advice. I can’t wait until your store opens. Thanks for being a great crocheting inspiration!

I am down to one UFO- a FBB- It sits on the arm of my chair, but then I pick up something else to do that’s fast and easy- I had bought alot of cotton yarn and have been making washcloths and dishcloths since they are quick and easy…..and there sits the FBB calling my name to finish it……

Hey that’s funny about UFO’s. Never heard of that term before. You have some ways of saying things I mean of writing things that really makes me laugh. Keep that good sense of humor. UFO’s daaaa that was good.

I usually have a few UFO lying around but I just recently finished them all. My husband works with a gentleman that has stage-4 cancer and he is having a hard time meeting his financial responsibilities so they company that they both work for decided to pitch in and help with an auction to raise $$$. Well, this situation inspired me to complete my multiple UFOs and donate them to the auction!! It was wonderful to help someone and clean out my stash/UFOs all at the same time. Hey, it’s what we crocheters do, right?

oh man! UFOs are the worst (or the best.) i had a one-year lease on my last place, in which i had enough space to devote to a “project room,” and when i was packing up to move this month, i had to devote an entire (large) box just to my UFOs. in a way, separating them out from the rest of my unruly stash was rewarding, as now i know just where to go when i want to hook something but don’t want to fish the webs for interesting patterns. glad i’m not alone.

I have UFO’s it usually happens when all I have left to a current project is to sew parts together or make embellishments to my amigurumi like felt pieces (eyes, wings ect.). I want to crochet! so I move onto a new project and leave the non-crochet ending for a time I’m in the mood… so projects tend to add up until I decide I have to get it done and then I sit there forever and sew legs together and cut and glue felt pieces. It’s like punishment for leaving them undone for so long. 😛
