Crochet Pattern: Chick Easter Favor

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 27th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 4 Comments
My family and I live on a farm. Each spring I eagerly await our baby chicks to arrive in the mail. It is so fun to receive the box from the post office filled with tiny fluffs peeping away. Occasionally we hatch our own birds and it’s my daughter’s favorite time of the day when it comes time to check on the incubators. Regardless of where you live, in the country, on a farm, or in the heart of downtown you can crochet your own baby chick. This project is great for upcoming Easter celebrations. Don’t forget to add a few treats and trinkets inside the pocket.

Crochet Pattern: Teddy Bear Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 6th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 2 Comments
Each week my five year old daughter watches me create a project for Crochet Spot. Oftentimes she is the source of my inspiration. For a couple weeks now she has been begging me to crochet a teddy bear for her. Any kind of teddy bear was her request. So, this week I made this appliqué to add to one of her shirts. She has already put in another request for a pink one next time. This pattern is really easy and can be adjusted several ways. You can change the muzzle color to a slightly darker or lighter shade, add beads or french knots for the eyes. Have fun! You can also find more applique patterns in the Applique Section!

Crochet Pattern: Interchangeable Belt

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 2nd, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 4 Comments
I like to have a variety of belts. If you could see my closet you’d know what I mean. Accessories are one of my favorite things. Isn’t it the same for most girls? This crochet belt pattern is unique in that you can interchange the belt depending on what you are wearing. The example in the photo was made with bulky denim-looking yarn. Thanks to a small button with a shaft on the underside of one end of the belt it can be easily attached or removed from the buckle. It is also a great scrap-saver project. Make a rainbow of belts for the spring season ahead.

Crochet Pattern: Leprechaun Top Hat Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on February 20th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 2 Comments
I have always loved St. Patrick’s Day. My mom would make corned beef, sauerkraut, and all the traditional foods for our American way of celebrating our Irish heritage. While the food was delicious it was also a milestone in the year, which meant spring was right around the corner! After a long winter I was always more than ready to see my tulips again. This week I created this Leprechaun Top Hat Appliqué so you can start embellishing your linens or making pins for your friends. This is also a great project for adding a “touch of Irish” to kid’s clothes or hair accessories.

Crochet Pattern: Boot Toppers

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on February 12th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 5 Comments
It won’t be long and instead of snow we’ll be enjoying spring showers. I have a trusty pair of rubber boots that I love to tromp through the spring puddles in. I often where them to town or in the garden. When I wear them all day long the hard rubber can rub on my shins. So, I crocheted these boot toppers to cushion my shins and for a chic update to my rubber boots. This project can be made in about an hour or less and it’s a great way to use up extra yarn. It’s also a great project for beginners. Make several in a rainbow of colors to suit your moods.

Crochet Pattern: Lace and Ribbon Headband

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on January 29th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 5 Comments
There are so many cute hair accessories in the stores now. The prices range from super cheap to out of this world expensive. I enjoy traveling to craft shows where home businesses sell their handmade goods. I’ve seen many takes on the crocheted headband. This pattern is my own twist by making lace and weaving a satin ribbon through it. The ends of the ribbon work perfect for tying on the headband. These crochet up ultra fast and are great for adults and kids alike. Make several while watching TV to sell at craft shows and bazaars in the spring!
