Finally, spring is here! While it might not seem like it yet where you are living it is nice to know that winter will soon be a memory in our rear view mirror as we journey into warmer days, birds singing, frogs croaking and flowers blooming. Easter is right around the corner too, so be sure and use these upcoming days to create a few fun crafts to celebrate the holiday. This flower is so easy and simple to crochet but it can be used a million ways. Lately I’ve seen crocheted flowers popping up everywhere on clothes, toys, accessories, and home decor. I love the fact that they can be made in little time and yet these simple appliques can really spice up anything their applied to. In your spare time crochet several using scrap yarn and save them in a jar for upcoming projects. If you have some extra bobby pins around the house this is a great way to infuse new life into them.

Crochet Pattern: Carnation

While out shopping I’ve noticed that crocheted accessories are all the rage. So, this week’s crochet pattern is for a white and pink tinged carnation. There are so many uses for this project. You could make several and chain or slip stitch them together to create a sweet, spring accent scarf. You could also make two and attach hair bands for your daughter’s pigtails. Sew a piece of felt and a pin back onto the flower to wear on your jacket. Why not whip up a few to dress up some headbands. They are a perfect handmade alternative to bows for gifting too!

Crochet Pattern: Rosette

I admit I miss my beautiful flower garden, which my family tends from the first crocus to fall mums. So, to satisfy my longing I enjoy crocheting flowers, especially with fingering yarn. They look so lacy and feminine and can be used in a myriad of ways. This rosette can be used as a bow on packages, on a child’s headband, or a pin for a hat or coat. They can be crocheted in no time and can be quite addictive. I hope to make several of these rosettes in a rainbow of colors to join into a lacy scarf that can be worn into early spring.

I love crocheted accessories that add a personal touch to my wardrobe. Check out this sweet flower pin; it’s so easy to make! There is so much you can do with this ultra easy project. You could make one of these flowers to accent a child’s crocheted headband. They are the perfect hat accessory or how about pinning one on your purse. You could also sew a few of these flowers along the hem of a little girl’s dress. Don’t be afraid to mix things up a bit and alternate each flower’s yarn color or add a vintage button in the center. Crochet yourself a flower garden!
