I plan to give crocheted (by me) scarves and matching hats to my nieces and nephew who just moved to colder climate area from Houston, TX. For my son who is in The Netherlands for a year of school, I plan to make a cozy afghan.I just finished a hat scarf for him, but I will send that to him sooner. I am trying to finish one of those infinity scarf/wrap for my 24 year old daughter. And for my 12 year old, I also plan to make a hat and scarf set as well as a matching bag. I also want to make cotton washcloth's and pot holders to give to friends. I am trying to make gifts this year rather than buying them. My goal is to eventually make all of the gifts for Christmas giving.

I am making at least one scarf. I'm also making some "crochet balls" as toys for a new baby in the family. Might be making some dish clothes for someone too!

I am crocheting several items for Christmas gifts. I've already completed two of my gifts, plastic grocery bag holders. The designs I've chosen are quick and easy. I also plan to do slippers and caps/hats.

I am crocheting toys for my grand-nieces, funny potholders for my friends in themes that have personal meaning to each one... from patterns I've collected, funny 70's style booties for the same friends, an afghan based on Rothko's paintings for my niece (he's her favorite artist), a red coat with fun fur trim on about 4 inches around the bottom and on bottom of sleeves for my best friend, an armadillo for a friend at work who collects them...not the real thing, mind you! Also teeny bears for another collector friend, and matching hand towels and washcloths for other folks at work. I am also crocheting book marks to give all my student workers at work (I'm a library director in a community college). Here's hoping I can get it all finished in time! I've been working all year, since I decided to try to give all hand-made gifts this year. Don't think I'm going to be able to do that for everyone, though. Have already put off a sweater for a friend until next year. I'm going to design it myself, and really don't have enough time to put into right now. Want it to be Wonderful, don't cha know!

What I've discovered though this process is that I really like to make stuffed toys and dolls!...and that I CAN crochet with thread! I've only used size 3 so far, but I figure if I can crochet with size 3, then surely I can crochet with size 5!....and that size 10 isn't looking nearly so thin as it did once upon a time. Who knows?....but I absolutely WILL NOT crochet doilies...now way, no how!
