Crochet Spot is a welcoming site where you can easily learn how to crochet and find funtastic crochet patterns to work with. The goal is to provide easy to follow tutorials and crochet patterns, while getting to know you the readers and having a ton of fun along the way!
Rachel Choi – Founder
I founded Crochet Spot not too long ago in 2009, right out of my Philadelphia home, as an adventure to share my crochet patterns with the world, and help others to crochet along the way. Today, I’m glad to say that Crochet Spot is a wild success, with hundreds of crochet patterns and tutorials, and thousands of visitors each month! If I didn’t have my favorite 3.25 mm hook, love for soft yarn, and of course your support, Crochet Spot wouldn’t be the funtastic place it is today.
If you ever need any help with Crochet Spot patterns or tutorials you can email me at [email protected] and I’ll be sure to help you!

I have been crocheting since I was 19 years old. I actually started not long after I first picked up my knitting needles. I also enjoy writing and reading as well as drawing, making jewelry, learning languages (I’m working on my fourth), and cooking. Basically, I like to learn and create.

I am a lifelong crafter and began crocheting in 2008. I was hesitant to start, but one scarf and I was hooked! The online crochet community is a lot of fun for me. I am a proud member of the Crochet Guild of America (CGOA), and the founding president of its first chapter in Mexico, Ganchitos Mexico City.

I love being able to create my own things. I consider crocheting a constant (and forever) hobby, while my bigger aspiration is to become a writer. I’ve dabbled a little in sewing, something I wish to get better at, and even tried knitting, but haven’t accomplished it. Also, I love color, just about every craft, animals, and all around creativity.
Claire Ortega-Reyes – Writer
I officially started crocheting in grade school, but it wasn’t as fun as crochet is today! There’s so many things crafters can do, and I feel that it’s my duty to share what I know. I love writing patterns for beautiful, practical items, and then sharing them with the world. Aside from being a writer and a crocheter, I’m also a wife, mom, and I help run the family business.
Laurie Beranek – Writer
My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was six. I have crocheted off and on since. It wasn’t until a few years ago that crocheting turned from being just a hobby to something more. I have never been good at following patterns. I am always changing them to suit my needs which led me to creating my own designs and patterns. I also teach crochet classes and love sharing my love for creating with my students.
