Airport Crochet

Posted in Fun Ramblings on July 29th, 2014 by Caissa "Cami" McClinton – 17 Comments

Travel has been on my mind lately as it’s the summer up here in the Northern hemisphere and I have personally had occasion to board a flight or two recently. For me it is second nature to take crochet virtually everywhere I go, but I think it’s worth it to outline a few basic points about airport crochet. Crochet is an ideal craft to take with you while traveling by air. Nowadays it is pretty easy to pack and get the basic tools through security. While traveling in the airport and on the plane, crochet provides a welcome sense of relaxation while productively passing the time.

Pack Your Crochet Bag for Work or Travel

Guess what!? Memorial Day (U.S.) has passed, and thus summer has officially started (in my hemisphere, anyway) ;)! Woo hoo! I’m going to be on the move this summer – constantly in my car or working. So I need to make sure my crochet bag is well packed so that I can keep up with my summer stitches.

In packing the crochet project bag, I’d like to think about exactly what I need for projects that I can complete on the go. Because I want this to be portable and fun, for intermittent crafting, I am going to recommend a few essentials. Please add your ideas in the comments!

Crochet Pattern: Travel Jewelry Pocket

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on May 30th, 2012 by Emilee Gettle – 4 Comments
Now that summer is almost here vacation season is upon us. My family and I do a lot of traveling all throughout the year. I love seeing historic sights, visiting the beach and hiking in the mountains. Through the years I have tried to get just a little more organized each time I pack. I try my best to think ahead and pack accordingly so that if my luggage gets thrown around I won’t have to worry. Crocheting on the Road?

Posted in Fun Ramblings on August 25th, 2010 by Emilee Gettle – 26 Comments

I take several road trips a year and when I say road trips I mean cross-country, 4 days in a car with husband and toddler road trips. It can be an adventure to put it mildly, but we all have a good time.

Every since I was quite young I have always taken embroidery projects with me in the car to pass the long hours on the road. However, after getting married and taking the front seat I had to change. After all, needles for embroidery getting lost in car seats and coming at my beloved driver was not a good mix. Rather distracting to the driver, not to mention occasionally painful! So, much to my husband’s relief, I decided crochet was the solution to my road trip craft cravings. I learned something else new, skeins of yarn can double as a neck pillows!

How about you? Do you crochet while on road trips?
