Crochet Pattern: Kite Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on January 23rd, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 1 Comment
There is something nostalgic about making your own valentines. I love going through antique stores and admiring all the many different kinds of vintage cards, some of which include gorgeous trims. It’s not too early to start making your own valentine cards for the upcoming holiday. This quick and easy kite pattern paired with plain jane card-stock would make a great card. You could also use this pattern as an appliqué for children’s clothing and accessories. I have seen some really cute hair accessories everywhere I turn. A lot of my favorite department stores’ accessories sections have a large area devoted to hair barrettes, bows, bobby pins and headbands. This project is a perfect one for using up your treasured yarn scraps.

I didn’t have a bleach bottle but I made this little sleep sack for my daughter’s dolly. It cradles her 5 1/2″ (14 cm) doll perfectly!

Crochet Pattern: Miss Mouse Cat Toy

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on September 14th, 2011 by Emilee Gettle – 2 Comments
I have two cats at home who are crazy about catnip. I’ve made felt cat toys in the past and filled them with my kitten’s herb of choice, much to their pleasure. I’m away from home on a business trip now and so in a fit of homesickness I crocheted this mouse for my comedic kitties, Crazy and Maggie. I know they will have as much fun with this as I did making it. I can’t wait to watch them! This mouse is jumbo sized for a heaping helping of catnip, but you could also use this as a child’s toy (minus catnip). If you want, you could add beads for eyes too!
