I really love quilting. Mixing and matching all my favorite fabrics together to make something beautiful is so rewarding. So, the thought occurred to me, why not use my favorite quilt patterns for crochet patterns? This week I made a bow tie quilt block pattern for you to enjoy. You could make this block into something special for a baby with all the beautiful baby yarn available. You don’t have to break the budget either; it’s a great way to use up scrap yarn. Make several blocks with different colored bowties to create an afghan.

Crochet Pattern: Carnation

While out shopping I’ve noticed that crocheted accessories are all the rage. So, this week’s crochet pattern is for a white and pink tinged carnation. There are so many uses for this project. You could make several and chain or slip stitch them together to create a sweet, spring accent scarf. You could also make two and attach hair bands for your daughter’s pigtails. Sew a piece of felt and a pin back onto the flower to wear on your jacket. Why not whip up a few to dress up some headbands. They are a perfect handmade alternative to bows for gifting too!

Crochet Pattern: French Macaroon

There is a bakery near where I am whiling the winter away in northern California that sells a myriad of macaroons. They are so beautiful in shades of mint green, pink and chocolate. Each one gracefully rests upon the other encased in apothecary jars. I love to stop at the bakery and just admire every little detail they add to their baked goods. So, for those of you who are tempted by macaroons like I am, here’s a crochet pattern just for you. Your kids are sure to love them almost as much as the real thing.

Crochet Pattern: Business Card Holder

I find myself traveling to business fairs and expos quite frequently throughout the year. I’ve been looking for a business card holder to hold my cards and one to hold the cards I pick up from fellow business people. My problem in the past has been when I get a card from someone I slide it in my purse and it gets mixed in with my own business cards. When someone asks for my card I’m embarrassed as I fumble through twenty from other people. So, I decided to make my own holder, one for me and one in a contrasting color for those cards I acquire.
