Torchy Blane is a fictional character from the 30’s that inspired the Lois Lane character for Superman. Both are avid newspaperwomen who will stop at nothing to get a story. Glenda Farrell plays Torchy Blane in a few of the films of that time, and in it she wears a hat that has, for me, become the symbol of a woman of the press. With this pattern I have sought to replicate that style, complete with an upturned brim and hat band in the form of a long ribbon. All you need to know to crochet this hat are the basics. Enjoy, and let me know what you think in the comments below! |

Have you ever taken a ride in a hot air balloon? I did once when I was young, but then the very next to ride after me had the ride of their lives as the balloon broke loose and took them miles away. Of course, the pilot was experienced and no one was ever in any danger. All was recovered, but needless to say, the fun was over for the day. Hot air balloons have always been a symbol of adventure. Why not use hot air balloons for the adventurous person in your life? Use them on a gift, to decorate for a party, or whatever else you can think of. This applique works up very quickly and is a lot of fun! |

Dishcloths are excellent ways to show off some of your favorite crochet stitches and could be just as well called stitch samplers. Since my family really loves fresh produce, we tend to use such cloths for produce towels, and they work beautifully. Two strands of super fine weight yarn are held together constantly for this pattern and the colors are alternated, giving it a unique gradient. The stitch is a solid shell which is a popular stitch seen often in crochet projects and easy to do. Let me know what you think!

We all know the Robin Hood legends. Some say he was a knight returning from the Crusades to find his home and lands confiscated by the traitorous Prince John. And then there are others that say he is a simple villager who ended up an outlaw through a more simple incident of injustice. Here is a hat designed to look just like the style depicted on many Robins through the years. It is worked all at once with no seaming or special shaping. Make your next cosplay outfit the man (or woman) in lincoln green! |

A Chemex is a manual coffeemaker with a simple and yet sophisticated design going as far back as the 40’s. I’ve been making coffee with a Chemex for many years now and I will readily admit it is the best coffee I’ve ever tasted. I designed the Rugged Chemex Cozy with a rustic feel in mind. But today I want to share with you my Pepperming Chemex Cozy pattern. It is made by first crocheting a rectangle and then cinching it up with ribbon to fit the Chemex. Let me know what you think! (Note: depending upon yarn thickness/fiber, temperature of coffee, quantity in pot, etc, cozy may not prevent you from burning yourself). |

Are you familiar with Chemex coffee makers? Years ago, our coffee maker died and we set out to find something better. We have been making coffee with a Chemex for a few years now and we agree that it is the best way to make coffee. All it takes is a kettle for warming water and Chemex filters and you have coffee in minutes. Because of its simplistic style I was inspired to make an easy cozy with pure cotton yarn. Let me know what you think! (Note: depending upon yarn thickness/fiber, temperature of coffee, quantity in pot, etc, cozy may not prevent you from burning yourself). |

This doily pattern fits well on a side table or small coffee table. It can also be used as a placemat. The doily is light and lacy despite using light weight yarn instead of traditional crochet thread. The style blends modern and vintage with easy crochet stitches in an old-fashioned style. |
