On the main CAL page, scroll down to the bottom and you’ll find Part #3. In this part, there are a bunch of different, small pieces to crochet. The patterns are pretty much straight forward with nothing too tricky. But if you need help with anything, you’re always encouraged to ask! After finishing part #3 you might have a good idea what you are making. Feel free to take a guess and let us know what you think.

Again, here’s the link to the CAL page: Mystery Crochet Along: A Gift for V-Day

If you missed Part #1 and/or Part #2, no worries! You can still view the pattern on the CAL page and join in on the fun.

Have fun crocheting and don’t forget to share your pics!

Mystery Crochet Along: A Gift for V-Day (Part 2)

Posted in Fun Ramblings, News on January 17th, 2014 by Rachel Choi – 1 Comment

Part #2 of the Mystery Crochet Along (CAL) is now posted!!! You can find the pattern added to the end of the original CAL post here: Mystery Crochet Along: A Gift for V-Day
This part is fairly short. You’ll be crocheting 5 of these objects. It is a flat mystery shape that is crocheted in the round. It uses the adjustable ring because there are so many stitches being made into the one stitch. For beginners who haven’t used the ring before, here’s a link to the tutorial: How to Crochet: The Magic Adjustable Ring Don’t forget to pull the ring tightly closed when you are done! If you find the ring isn’t tight enough for you, you can also use the double ring.

If you missed Part #1, no worries! You can still view the pattern on the CAL page and join in on the fun.

Have fun crocheting and don’t forget to share your pics 🙂

Book Review: Blueprint Crochet

Posted in News on December 31st, 2013 by Claire Ortega-Reyes – 4 Comments
For me, Robyn Chachula’s book Blueprint Crochet: Modern Designs for the Visual Crocheter is a game-changer. I learned how to crochet with written patterns, so it never occurred to me that I might be a visual crocheter (I didn’t even know there was such a thing as visual crochet). Because of this book, I learned how to understand crochet diagrams and how to make join-as-you-go motifs. Suddenly, those beautiful Japanese patterns are doable, and motif projects aren’t as daunting. Preview the book on Amazon and read on for my full review to see whether or not you’ll like it.

Book Review: Crochet Adorned

Posted in News on December 12th, 2013 by Claire Ortega-Reyes – 4 Comments
I’ve always kept a lookout for Linda Permann’s crochet patterns. I’ve always thought her creations were whimsical yet elegant and practical since the first creation I saw from her: “Pinups” from Stitch ‘n Bitch Crochet. So when I found out that she had authored her own book, I immediately set out to get a copy. Crochet Adorned: Reinvent Your Wardrobe with Crocheted Accents, Embellishments, and Trims was everything I had expected it to be–it was just so Linda (“linda” by the way is Italian, Spanish and Portuguese for beautiful or pretty, which makes it even more appropriate).

Book Review: Stitch ‘n Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker

Posted in News on October 1st, 2013 by Claire Ortega-Reyes – 14 Comments
Stitch ‘n Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker introduced me to the cool side of crochet. I learned crochet by making doilies, so seeing colorful crocheted items and cute crochet illustrations really got me hooked (literally). Reading it inspired me to go online and create my blog. There’s so much to love about this book, but it’s not perfect. Check out the book for yourself on Amazon (I just love the “Look Inside” feature). In the meantime, here’s my short review of this book.
