Crochet Pattern: Floral Bookmark

Reading is a great way to relax, but sometimes you just have to get up and put the book down. Fortunately, we have bookmarks like this flower to keep us from losing the page, and a single ball of thread can make enough to keep the busiest readers on track. crochet_floral_bookmark

Great pattern! I have already crocheted 6 of them to insert in Christmas cards.

That is a very cute pattern, but I have a bit of difficulty seeing that thread any longer. Would fingering or baby yarn work as well? And come to think of it, couldn’t you use something else besides that Size 10 thread like some kind of heavier thread/rope/twine that would work the same way and you could use a bigger steel crochet hook for it. The flower would be bigger, but being able to compensate might work for others who cannot see that thread any longer.

      Hi Lisa,

Hmm…I think in a larger thread or yarn, the long part that goes between the pages might end up so fat it could keep the book from closing, or even damage a delicate one. So maybe instead of the ch 56, use a single, very long Solomon’s knot to connect the flower and fan/leaves instead? Or even finish off the flower and the leaves separately, and reattach with them with a single strand of yarn and simple knots?

Hi, I think in round 2, do you mean 2 DCs in each DC around?
The pattern is easy to follow except for this observation. Thank you!
