Crochet Pattern: Light Family Beanie Set (6 Sizes)

By Rachel Choi – 4 Comments
There’s a new pattern in the Crochet Spot Store! This pattern is very similar to the Super Quick Family Beanie Set (also available in the store). Due to recent requests, this pattern uses light weight yarn instead of the traditional medium weight yarn. The light weight yarn will create a lighter beanie that is great for warmer weather during the spring or fall. The pattern uses primarily double crochet stitches, making each hat fairly quick to crochet.

Love it! I have been looking for a lightweight hat for summer!

Just purchased this pattern. I have never worked in the round before, and am puzzled at the “ch 2” at the beginning of each round prior to the double crochet because it leaves a “gap” at the end/beginning of the row. Seems it would look better just to use a slip stitch and then chain 2. What am I missing on this cute and simple pattern?

Hi Pat, this pattern doesn’t have the “ch 2” at the beginning of each round. Only round 1 has the “ch 2” in it. The beanies are crocheted in the round like a spiral, so that there aren’t any seams when you’re done. After you finish a round you’ll continue by working the next round until you’ve worked all the rounds. There’s no need to make any chains or slip stitches at the beginning or end of the rounds.

sorry! I put the pattern down and upon returning, saw my error. The hat is working up nicely. Thank you so much!
