Crochet Pattern: Tunisian Check Scrubbie

It can be hard to find a project for variegated yarns with short color repeats, so sometimes it’s best to think small and simple. A square scrubbie with a checkerboard pattern fits the bill quite nicely. This pattern requires some knowledge of Tunisian crochet. Skill Level:

Finished Size: 3 1/4″ (8.5 cm) wide, 3 1/2″ (9 cm) tall

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn (approximately 10 yards)
Tunisian/Afghan Crochet Hook J (6.0 mm)
crochet yarn size 4

Gauge:
Rows 1 – 13 measure 3 1/4″ (8.5 cm) wide by 3 1/2″ (9 cm) tall

Crochet Pattern: Tunisian Check Scrubbie
Row 1: ch 13, pull up a loop in second ch from hook and in each ch across
Return Pass: (yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) across: 12 TSS
Rows 2-5: tks in first 4 sts, tps in next 4 sts, tks in last 4 sts: 12 sts
Rows 6-9: tps in first 4 sts, tks in next 4 sts, tps in last 4 sts: 18 sts
Rows 10-13: Repeat rows 2-5
Finish off.
