Crochet Pattern: Ruffle Christmas Tree Skirt

By Rachel Choi – October 22nd, 2012 3 Comments
There’s a new pattern in the Crochet Spot Store! Dress up your Christmas tree with this striped, ruffled skirt. The skirt is a perfect 4 foot circle that opens up in the back. The skirt is crocheted in white, then the red ruffles are crocheted onto the skirt so that no sewing is required! Feel free to make this skirt uniquely yours by adding more ruffles or using more fun colors. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to crochet this skirt as ruffles are notorious for taking a while to crochet, although always worth it.

Crochet Pattern: Halloween Candy Corn Goody Bag

By A Guest Writer – October 20th, 2012 4 Comments
A Guest Post by Carol Cox.

I made these bags for my grandchild’s kindergarten class, filled with a little candy and a small toy or two. They make quick, cute favors. I also enjoy making and using plarn, after I found out about it on the internet. So uniting one of my favorite holidays with a favorite craft resulted in these small bags. Hope you enjoy making them as I did.

Crochet Pattern: Pumpkin Pin

By Emilee Gettle – October 18th, 2012 1 Comment
Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons. I love the smell of woodsmoke in the air. Pumpkins and squash in every shade are being harvested and used for decorations. Oftentimes my squash collection finds its way to my oven. Roasted squash, stir-fried pumpkin, cookies and pies all make my dinner table look absolutely mouthwatering. So, when I was thinking up a pattern for this week, this little pumpkin pin found its way off my hook. I added eyes and a smile similar to the happy veggie figurines I’ve seen in Japantown.

Crocheted Cotton Washcloth Sampler

By Corinne Munger – October 17th, 2012 49 Comments
When I first thought of writing this post, I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to talk about. Was it to be about using a luscious cotton yarn (that I love so much), about the incredible patterns you can make using only single crochet, or how washcloth patterns are really just “samplers” of your talent? Then I realized it should be about all 3!

Crochet Pattern: Spider

By Candace – October 16th, 2012 2 Comments
Is Halloween complete without a creepy, crawly spider? Many of us, myself included, could do without them, and that’s what makes them perfect creepy decorations. Luckily, this spider is jonly crocheted and completely harmless. For extra “ew” factor, suspend it from a thread or add lots of tiny googly eyes.

There’s a new pattern in the Crochet Spot Store! Are you ready to get into the Christmas spirit? This hat can be crocheted in 5 different sizes from babies to adults so that everyone in the family can have a fun hat. The hat is crocheted in one piece from the top down, then the tree trims are crocheted direct onto the hat so that no sewing is required. The trims are crocheted with colorful beads, which are used as ornaments. The star is then crocheted separately, and then sewn onto the top of the hat. Due to the techniques used in this pattern, it is not recommended for beginners unless you’re up for a fun challenge!

Crochet – It Might Be In The Genes

By Veronica Smith – October 13th, 2012 10 Comments

I am wondering if certain abilities are hereditary. My mum’s mother (Nana) could knit, crochet, and sew with perfection. A lot of it would have been necessity when she had 7 kids and little income to the home. Even after all the kids left she still knitted and crocheted with intricate lace pouring down from her hands as she worked away quickly and effortlessly with perfection and only glancing down occasionally.

Then there’s my mum, the daughter of the above mentioned knitting, sewing, and crocheting genius. Mum’s a tailor by trade although very rarely sews now. She does a myriad of handcrafts with perfection, fine intricate work that amazes those who even do the same thing. This same woman with so much natural talent cannot crochet to save her life. It’s not for a lack of trying, she wants to. I have tried teaching her repeatedly over the years and she has even gone to several lessons as well, in case it was my inability to teach. How can this be? By the way, I have taught many others to crochet successfully.

Crochet Pattern: Jumbo Lip Balm Holder

By Candace – October 12th, 2012 2 Comments
There are lots of lip balm holder patterns, but not many sized for large tubes. For those who happen to like moisturizing with a larger-sized lip balm and want a convenient way to carry it, this pattern makes a basic holder that stretches to fit. If adding to a keychain, you can always loop the end through the key ring before you finish off.

Crochet Pattern: Child’s Cat Ear Headband

By Emilee Gettle – October 10th, 2012 5 Comments
The other day, while my daughter and I were taking a walk, a little black kitten and his tabby sibling peeked out from among a stack of haybales. While the tabby cat is only interested in getting fed the black kitten we’ve named Miette has become quite loveable. My daughter is so attached to her new little friend. I crocheted this cat ear headband for her to wear while getting her fall photo taken with her new found feline friend. It seems like cat lovers are often crochet lovers, so I wanted to share this pattern with you too. It can be crocheted in a matter of minutes!

Crochet Blogger – Corinne Munger

By Corinne Munger – October 9th, 2012 11 Comments

Yes, that is a crocheted version of myself! lol What can I say? I LOVE to crochet everything!

Welcome! My name is Corinne Munger and I’m a blogger here at crochetspot.com. I was THRILLED when Rachel asked me to join her team of creative talent! I feel honored to be able to bring you my crochet experiences, techniques and patterns.
My background starts some 43 years ago when my Italian, left-handed Grandmother gave me my first crochet lesson. My first “square” looked like swiss cheese with all the holes! But she knew I was serious about learning, and even though I was right-handed, we trudged through – and here I am today teaching others.
