Crochet Pattern: Asterisk Headband

By Claire Ortega-Reyes – 12 Comments
Headbands can fix any number of bad hair days. They also add that extra “oomph” to the everyday look.

This lacy yet sturdy headband is made in one go: after crocheting the main body back and forth in rows, the straps and edging are made in the same round. Make this using organic yarn for a spring or summer accessory, or make it double as a warmer by using wool or acrylic.

Skill Level: crochet skill level easy

Finished Size: 2.5″ wide x 12″ long, excluding straps

Materials:
Light or DK-weight yarn
Crochet Hook H (5.00 mm)

Gauge: 8 dc stitches x 4 dc rows = 2″

Really cute! One question: How do you wear it? 🙂

Hello Squirrely Girly! Haha, you put it on your head and tie the ends together at the nape. 😉

  3. Squirrely Girly says:

Oh, okay! The little circle things on the ends didn’t look right and the straps looked shorter than they should have been.
Thank you so very much, Claire! You have solved my problem! Now, I only have to make it! 😉

hi claire question…..after following this pattern to the 11th row ….next you say repeat rows 7-11 four times…..BUT….ROW 7 SAYS CH 3 DC IN REMAINING 8 SC TURN :9dC (which workd fine the first time) but now i am doing row 7 after row 11 and row 11 does not have 8sc!!! it only has 6 with a ch 3 in there!! so………..what am i suppose to do really? :^)

hope you can help me with this question!! also row 8 you say 3sc, ch 5 skip3 dc, sc in next 3 sc

it should read sc in next 3dc skip 3 dc, scin next 3 dc right??

thanks for what ever help you can give me denise

Hello denise, Sorry for the pattern error; row 7 should read, “ch 3, dc in remaining 8 stitches, turn: 9 dc.” And “ch 1, sc in next 3 sc, ch 5, skip 3 dc, sc in next 3 sc, turn: 6 sc” DOES mean ch 1, sc in next 3 dc, skip 3 dc, sc in next 3 dc. 🙂 Thanks so much denise, the pattern has now been edited.

morning claire!! thanks for responding……………..but my original delema has not been addressed!!
i know and understand what row7 says…….but how do i DO THAT AFTER row 11? so, are you saying i should dc in the 3 dc,AND in the ch 3 and then the last 3 dc? hmmm that would give me 9 dc hard to do it in the 3 chains…………..or do you mean to put them in the ch3 space? is that it?
thanks for all your help!! i am probably making this harder than it is!! :^)

    • Claire says:

Good morning denise! I would recommend making the dc in each chain–it just looks more stable to me that way. But working 3 dc in the ch-3 space would work, too. 🙂 Hope that was helpful!

thanks so much i will give it a go!!

OMG! I am so making one of these!

  8. Deborah says:

You could leave off the ends and it would make a cute bookmark too! Thanks so much for the pattern!

  9. I made one using 2 strands of #10 crochet thread and a size 00 hook. It is not as wide as it should be but my neighbor said it would work fine for her, as she has a smaller head. It could be made wider by adding 1 or 2 sc/dc at the beginning and ending of the row.

I really like the pattern and all the patterns on this web site.
