Crochet Pattern: Simple Spring Flower with Leaves

This simple flowers and leaves is perfect for embellishing belts, beanies, purses and many more items. Sew or glue it to the back of a plain hair clip and create a fun and unique Easter gift for a daughter or friend.

Skill Level: crochet skill level easy

Finished Size: Flower measures 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter, each leaf should be approx 1 inch (2.54 cm) long

Materials:
2 yards Color A, 1 yard Color B-DK weight yarn
H hook (5.00 mm)
yarn needle

Crochet Pattern: Simple Spring Flower with Leaves

Cluster cl: (yo, insert hook into indicated stitch, yo, pull up a loop) three times, yo and pull through all 7 loops on hook, ch 1 to close cluster

Round 1: ch 8, join with sl st to first ch to form ring

Round 2: ch 1, 10 sc into ring: 10 sc

Round 3: cl into same st as join, and in each sc around, join with sl st to top of first cluster: 10 clusters

Round 4: [(sc, ch 3, sc) in same st as join, skip ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in top of next cl] around, join with sl st to beginning ch-1: 20 sc, 10 ch 3 spaces

Leaves: make as many as you want for decorating this flower or any other flowers you might want to use!

ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next 3 ch, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in next ch, 3 sl st in last ch,
working on other side of ch, sl st in first ch, sc in next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch, sc in next ch: 6 sc, 6 dc, 5 sl st

Finish off, weave in ends, make it pretty.

Attach the leaves to back of flower in whatever manner you think is easiest. I sewed them on just by inserted the needle and tying them to the back of the flower with knots.

Finish off, weave in all ends. Make it pretty!

    So if you wanted to make the flowers with out the leaves and put them together to make a scarf or lapghan how would you put them together that would look the best with less string or yarn?

    These are really cute! I am attaching the flowers to hair ties for charity. These are simple to make but I would say be sure to crochet loose. I tend to crochet a bit tight so the first few I made I had a hard time inserting the hook so many times to do the cluster stitch. But if you crochet it looser, they come out lovely!
