|Add a handcrafted touch to your holiday decorations this Christmas. Or, spread the joy and make some (or a lot) for your friends! It works up quickly, so you can fill your tree with a rainbow of festive star-centered flowers.
Finished size: 2.2” (5.59 cm) wide x 2.7” (6.86 cm) tall, not including strap
One ball of size 10 or size 8 crochet thread in main color
One ball of size 10 or size 8 crochet thread contrasting color (Or you can make it in just one color; one ball can make a lot of ornaments)
5 pieces 1-inch plastic rings
1.5 mm crochet hook

Crochet Pattern: Star in a Flower Ornament
Note: ch 3 counts as 1 picot.
Step 1: with main color, working into first ring, (5 sc, ch 3) 5 times, 5 sc: 30 sc, 5 picots
Do not fasten off, continue on to attach next ring.
Step 2: working into next ring, 5 sc, ch 1, sl st into last picot made for previous ring, ch 1, (5 sc, ch 3) 4 times, 5 sc: 30 sc, 5 picots
Do not fasten off, continuing on to next ring.
Repeat step 2 to attach the third and forth ring.
Step 3: working into fifth ring, 5 sc, ch 1, sl st into last picot made in fourth ring, ch 1, (5 sc, ch 3) 3 times, 5 sc, ch 1, sl st into first picot made in first ring, ch 1, 5 sc into ring, sl st into first sc made in first ring: 30 sc, 5 picots
Step 4: 6 sc in fifth ring, 6 sc in forth ring, 6 sc in third ring, 6 sc in second ring, 6 sc in first ring, sl st in thirty-first sc in fifth ring, finish off.
With contrasting color, ch 4, sl st into first ch to make a ring. Ch 3, sl st in space between 6 sc on step 4 of flower, ch 3, sl st into 4-ch ring. (Ch 3, sl st in next space between 6 sc, ch 3, sl st into 4-ch ring ) four times, finish off.
Ornament strap: Ch 60 (or however long you want the strap to be, plus about 10-15 chains). Being careful not to twist the chain, sl st into first chain. Finish off.
Insert one end of the loop through one of the rings, bringing the end through and out of the loop (knot made).
