2010 New Year’s Crochet Resolutions

By Rachel Choi – 23 Comments
It the spirit of tradition, why not make a 2010 resolution for crochet? You may have already made resolutions to spend more time with family and friends, lose weight, quit smoking, or to spend more time helping others. Now it’s time for you to make a crochet goal! Just leave your 2010 new year’s crochet resolution as a comment on this post. A year from now, you can look back and see if you accomplished it. (Plus, I’ll be rooting you on the whole time!) Here are some ideas:

  • Make a certain number of items (hats, scarves, toys etc.)
  • Donate a certain number of items to your favorite crochet charity
  • Crochet all of your holiday gifts
  • Make a yarn budget and stick to it
  • Learn a certain number of new crochet stitches
  • Crochet at least once a week
  • Improve your crochet business (if your a business owner)

Here are my 2010 New Year’s Crochet Resolutions:

  • Design at least 100 more crochet patterns – If I did over 100 in 2009, I’m going to aim for over 100 again in 2010!
  • Learn more crochet techniques – There is always something new to learn. I can never stop learning.
  • Improve my crochet business – I want my readers (all of you) to enjoy Crochet Spot even more. Plus, a girl needs more yarn to play with!

Now it’s your turn! What are your 2010 New Year’s Crochet Resolutions?
Just leave them as a comment, and check back periodically to remind yourself. At the end of the year, you can see if you accomplished your goals!

I want to finish 1 crochet pattern per month. It may seem like a little but I got 2 kiddos, and will be returning to school. And plus some of my patterns are clothes for my 2 babies, hopefull I will be able to do this and finally see what I’ve paid for.

My resolution might actually be to crochet a little LESS! It’s taking me away from my school work. Or maybe my goal will be to crochet a larger project that takes more than one day to make… I don’t have the patience… lolz.

I just want to get better at this. Sometimes it seems weird, being a 35 year old guy crocheting, but I like it, and this site is the absolute best. I absolutely love your tutorials. Keep up the good work kiddo!

  9. Faith says:

Well for the New Year I will try to accomplish a granny square
I will try to master the pineapple stitch
finish the blanket I started for myself in v-stitch won’t make too many goals because I too will be going back to school in about 8 days

  10. Mary says:

I also want to finish a blanket I started in December 2008 (yikes)…it keeps getting put on the back burner so I can make gifts for others. Also for me…to try making a sweater – I’ve always made fun accessories and easy stuff, but never something that actually needs to be fitted! I also don’t know a whole bunch (never heard of the pineapple stitch!) that I’d like to learn. The hubs works a 2nd job during tax season, so I’ll have extra free time to learn! Will be visiting the site and tutorials a LOT in the near future. 🙂 Thanks, Rachel!

This year I will be starting a blog, designing more crochet and hopefully, becoming successful at my business. I hope to open a storefront on Etsy to sell designs and to sell items that I make. I also want to take my internet writing career to another level. Like you said, a girl needs more yarn!!!!!! LOL!

I want to learn the tunisian/afghan stitch. I want to make an afghan for each one of my kids for the birthdays. I also want to try to design my own patterns. Happy crocheting in 2010!! 🙂

Make 1 of each of the amigurumi I sell at conventions a week so I’m fully stocked for the con season
Make more new items for my Etsy shop
Donate to a charity or two (or more)
Finish teaching my fiancee to crochet so he can help me accomplish all this LOL

PS My Etsy Team CreateCrochet had a chat today about new team policies and someone mentioned doing more charities. I told the person in charge of organizing about your blog and the extensive lists of charities on it. Just a little promotion for the awesome job you do maintaining this blog 🙂

I have several New-Years resolutions pertaining to crochet.

#1 Finish my UFO’s! I have several. I’m almost finished the first one. (UFO= Un-Finished Object)

#2 Use up the gobs of novelty yarns I have, or get rid of it.

#3 Create better crochet video tutorials on my You Tube channel.

#4 Design a new pattern once a month.

  17. Cami says:

My resolutions are: tunisian crochet, hairpin lace, beaded crochet, publishing patterns (on my blog), and making crocheted jewelry! Thanks, Rachel!

  18. Jessica says:

My corchet resolutions which are the only ones I made are:
    1) finish the projects I started at Christmas for people before the end of January,
    2) make at least 12 baby/toddler blankets to give to my Project Linus chapter,
and 3) which isn’t really a crochet resolution I guess…but to learn to sew and quilt so that I have other things to offer my family and friends instead of just crochet projects 🙂 lol

Does anyone know of any groups or charities that are in need of granny sqaures, any size? I usually have a project going at all times, and would like to send my extras from said projects to someone that can use them. Email me if you know of any ok, thanks bunches, and Happy New Year!

  20. Linda says:

I avoid making resolutions, but I am planning to crochet some hat for the troops – I saw the info for this charity on your list, Rachel. I like quick projects that I can finish in a couple of days.
I bought some red and white yarn to make a Christmasy scarf – it looked dorky – so I’m crocheting little 6″ Christmas stockings. Hope to give them to co-workers next year.
I look forward to your weekly emails, Rachel – thanks for coming up with new ideas for us!

  21. Bananas says:

ahh I’ve started early spring cleaning and I’ve found so may UFO’s first I need to finish those before I can start something new. I want all the UFO’s gone before spring

  22. Chris says:

Part of my goals this year include learning to crochet. I’m already well on my way to completing my frist project – a scarf for my lovely wife. She’s been so supportive even though the poor scarf looks like a first grader crocheted it!

Also, I’m greatly enjoying this site; it’s wonderful, entertaining, educational … I’m finding a lot of what I’ve been looking for in these pages.

  23. Dawn says:

I resolve to finish ALL the unfinished projects in boxes over the last two years–and there’s a bunch of them! Thanks to Rachel for all she does, and good luck to everyone for a very productive new year for us all.

    Dawn
