Crochet Pattern: Woodland Book Bag
Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on March 29th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 1 CommentBags are one of those items a person just can’t have enough of, I always say. This book bag pattern is created using an interesting stitch design that is surprisingly simple to create. It gives the bag texture that makes it stand out from the crowd. For accent, I chose to use a tree and a cute hedgehog but you can use your own appliques as well to give it a completely different look! Feel free to line the interior of the bag for extra strength if you’re going to carry heavy books. | ![]() |

Crochet Pattern: Polka Dot Accent Belt for Girls
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 19th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – Be the first to commentMost girls have grown up playing “dress-up”, and young girls usually always love to accessorize. The fact that some girls never grow out of it is beside the point. Making this belt with its French knot accents and tassels will delight almost any young girl. And if she decides she wants to make it herself, the pattern is easy to understand and takes little time to complete. If you are not familiar with making French knots, a quick internet search reveals how simple the technique really is. Let me know what you think. And in the meantime, enjoy! | ![]() |
Crochet Pattern: Woodland Mushroom Appliqué
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 12th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 3 CommentsAnytime I think “woodland”, mushrooms are sure to follow. There is such a variety, with each one unique to the other. They are truly fascinating pieces of creation! And so, adding to the Woodland Tree Appliqué and my various hedgehog appliqués (Hedgerly and Trundle the hedgehogs), include this mushroom pattern to your woodland stock for a complete picture! As with most appliqués, this one was designed using the basics of crochet and works up in a jiffy. Enjoy! | ![]() |
Crochet Pattern: Woodland Tree Applique
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 5th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 6 CommentsNature is one of God’s beautiful gifts to His children, and those who know how to enjoy it are the happiest. I’m a sucker for beautiful scenery and love the chance to recreate it in an impressionistic style. The design was inspired by a lovely woodland throw given to me recently. This applique is worked in the round with a lovely technique called surface crochet for the branches. Add some leafy accents to finish it off. What will you do with your applique? I had a great time crocheting this and I hope you will too! | ![]() |
Crochet Pattern: Trundle the Hedgehog Applique
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on February 26th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 2 CommentsFor my second hedgehog appliqué I give you Trundle! (If you missed Hedgerly then click the link to check him out.) There are many ways to create simple little animals with basic crochet stitches. For this little guy, you crochet the body row by row by creating a half circle with picots for texture. Add the head and feet to the body with simple slip stitches, and an easy embroidery technique called the French knot for the eye. It’s great fun and you just can’t go wrong choosing hedgehogs! | ![]() |
Crochet Pattern: Starburst Baby Bib
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on February 20th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – Be the first to commentIf you’ve ever been around babies you’ll know how important bibs are for keeping their adorable little outfits clean. Handmade bibs are easy to make and so much fun to design. Using cotton insures the durability of the piece and washes really well, two essentials in baby products. This bib ties at the neck with braided straps. Embellish the front with the starburst pattern or choose your own appliqué. It’s sure to make the little one wearing it very happy! | ![]() |

Crochet Pattern: Lil’ Blessing Baby Bibs
Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on February 12th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – Be the first to commentWhen designing baby products you can let your creativity go wild. Children love bright colors and splashy designs which make choosing the perfect project that much easier. With this set of three baby bibs you can supply any child with their very own, handmade bibs that will last much longer than any store bought product. Choose between an embroidered bib, a round desin, or square motifs. Here’s a good tip: use cotton for an easy washable and longer lasting product. | ![]() |

Crochet Pattern: Turban Headband
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on January 22nd, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 6 CommentsThe turban style headband brings back memories of the old days when women adopted the style as a part of fashion. Though wearing the turban for fashion has existed for centuries, in the 20’s it was reintroduced by a fashion designer with an Eastern flair. Many of us will recall pictures of a later era with women wearing them while working in factories during World War II. This headband is simple and easy to make, perfect for that Lana Turner-inspired outfit. As an added benefit, it will keep a bit of winter chill from your ears. | ![]() |
