Crochet Pattern: Squircle Earrings

Squircle–it’s a square and a circle. These earrings are simple to crochet and interesting to look at. You can choose to dangle one from each ear or make a chain of them for a series of squircles. crochet_squircle_earrings

Thanks so much for this pattern. I am confused by round two, though. If you skip 3 SCs and sl st into the next SC, and repeat around, then I don’t understand how you end up in the right spot or with 24 stitches?
