Free Crochet Pattern: Heart Envelope

Need a quick, last minute Valentine’s gift? Crochet this little heart shaped envelope and stuff it with small chocolates and a sweet Valentine’s note. Gift it to kids or adults. It could even be a thoughtful gift for co-workers or friends. Write a simple “thanks for being awesome” note or a more elaborate love poem and slip it inside. The envelope is super easy to crochet. Work up 2 hearts and crochet the edges together to form the envelope. No sewing is required!

Skill Level: crochet skill level easy

Finished Size: 3″ (7.5 cm) wide, 3 1/2″ (9 cm) tall

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn (approximately 20 yards)
Crochet Hook H (5.00 mm)
crochet yarn size 4

Gauge: Rows 1 – 4 in pattern measures 2 1/4″ wide and 2″ tall

Crochet Pattern: Heart Envelope
Heart (make 2)
Row 1: ch 3, 2 dc in third ch from hook: 2 dc
Row 2: ch 2, turn, 2 dc in each dc across: 4 dc
Row 3: ch 2, turn, 2 dc in first dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in last dc: 6 dc
Row 4: ch 2, turn, 2 dc in first dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in last dc: 8 dc
Row 5: ch 2, turn, dc in each dc across: 8 dc
Row 6: ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, (dc, 2 tr) in next dc, (2 tr, dc) in next dc, sc in next 2 dc, (dc, 2 tr) in next dc, (2 tr, dc) in next dc, sc in last dc: 16 sts
Finish off.

Assembly
Hold two hearts together with right sides facing out. Single crochet the edges of the hearts together, starting along the side of row 5 and working down towards the bottom of row 1, then up along the other side of the heart until the other side of row 5 is reached, leaving the top of the heart open, finish off.
