Take a trip back to the dark ages with this medieval peasant gown! Crocheted in one piece, the dress has a short blouse with full sleeves and works right into the waist of the skirt. The waist is extended and the skirt itself is full and long. There is an opening in the back of the dress for easy dressing and buttoned using the crochet stitches natural button holes. Crochet Pattern: Mayflower Necklace
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on May 29th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 7 CommentsFlowers are some of the most popular pieces of nature to mimic or recreate. There are many crochet patterns for flowers or involving them. Here on Crochet Spot alone the list is quite extensive. And why not! It’s hard not to love the new blossoms that welcome spring to the year or lift your spirits during the dog days of summer. This simple flower necklace will add the perfect accent to any outfit. Each flower has four petals made in one easy round. I used size 10 crochet thread but if you are daring you can try size 20 or 30 for an even smaller flower! Enjoy! | ![]() |
Crochet Pattern: Glamour Lace Wristers
Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on May 23rd, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 1 CommentNothing brings out the full potential of summer crochet like lace. The patterns are endless and the stitches so very unique. These glamorous wristers are perfect for days when the weather is just too warm for a “regular” piece of crochet work. The palms are open and the gloves are secured by a finger loop and buttons at the wrist. Dress up or down with these decorative wristers. They would even look great for a bride’s wedding! | ![]() |

Crochet Pattern: Vintage Tiara Headband
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on May 15th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 5 CommentsQuite a few decades ago a person wouldn’t walk out of the house without a hat — man, woman, or child. Hair pieces for women were plentiful and varied, worn when going out or at home. Barrettes, tiaras, headbands, clips of every sort. It’s a lost era, I’m sorry to say. But who says we can’t bring it back! This tiara-style headband is fashioned after the hair pieces of the early 1900’s. Women wore their hair wavy and put up neatly with accessories like this one. Now you can make your own; it’s terribly simple and very glamorous! | ![]() |
Crochet Pattern: Démodé Summer Cowl
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on May 7th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 34 Comments–Pattern has been corrected!– When the weather begins to grow warm you might hesitate to wear some of your crocheted accessories. The answer? Crochet lacier projects and you won’t have to sacrifice your style. This cool summer cowl has an antique lace look, hence the French name for “old-fashionedâ€. But contrary to some belief, lacy doesn’t have to mean more difficult. The stitch pattern is fairly simple, and with a lovely variegated yarn, will present just the right amount of character. Wear it with any summer outfit for the perfect look! |

Crochet Pattern: Cappuccino Cuff Bracelet
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on April 30th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 2 CommentsIf you are a big bracelet person, have you ever tried crocheting your own? It’s easy and oh, so much fun! Choose a favorite yarn and follow the pattern’s simple instructions. The border on this bracelet is textured with a very ordinary stitch while the middle sports shells and clusters. Here’s an idea: for a lacier bracelet, try a smaller weight yarn while still using the same hook. Let me know what you think! | ![]() |
Crochet Pattern: Vintage Doll Bathing Suit and Bag
Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on April 26th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 2 CommentsIf you have ever looked at vintage pictures, you’ve most likely seen some cute ones of little children in the adorable clothing of that period. The bathing suits of 100 years ago can often be laughable to us, but my favorite era for bathing suits of all kinds would have to be between the 40’s and 60’s. This doll bathing suit was inspired by a rather average style from a time around these periods. The suit is very easy to make, has a tie for the top and a cute bag for bringing things to the beach. The swimsuit will fit most standard dolls and can be lengthened for taller dolls. | ![]() |

Crochet Pattern: Doll Sun Hat
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on April 16th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 12 CommentsA simple sun hat for dolls; how cute can you get? It’s easy to make, works up in a jiffy, and is sure to make a little girl in your life very happy. Pair it with the Doll Blouse and Jumper for a perfect summer day look. Or stick around for something beach-worthy to come! Doll clothes are some of the best gifts for little girls, in my opinion, because of how simple they are to make and how pleased they will be. Crochet Pattern: Doll Blouse and Jumper
Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on April 12th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – Be the first to commentWhen I was a little girl, there was nothing I liked more than making my own doll clothes. Today, I may not play with dolls, but the ability to crochet for the little one’s that do is even more satisfying. The blouse is worked from the top down and attached in the back with buttons. The jumper has two buttons for the straps and an easy-to-make, full skirt. Sizing is for average sized baby dolls with measurements to be more exact. The blouse and jumper can easily be lengthened by adding more rows for taller dolls if needed. | ![]() |

Crochet Pattern: Spring Daisy Flower
Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on April 2nd, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 9 CommentsYou know spring has arrived when flowers and trees begin budding and blossoming. It’s a time that brings a joy to our hearts and adds a little extra spring to our step. The crochet pattern for today is a simple daisy. The stamen of the flower is created in two parts and the petals are added afterward. If you don’t already have an idea of what you want to do with your flower(s), here’s a few suggestions: attach one to a headband, wear it as a pin on your clothes, or make a bunch and lay around your house for decoration! Let me know what you decide to do! | ![]() |
