How to Crochet a Wire Bracelet

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns, Tutorials and Help on September 6th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

If you’ve been following along recently on the blog, you’ve come across a few beginner level wire jewelry crochet patterns: Circle Wire Earrings and Wire Fashion Ring. In this post, I have a video that demonstrates a bracelet being crocheting. Hopefully this video will help those that are having trouble working with wire.

As usual, the crochet pattern itself is super easy, but the tricky part is getting used to crocheting with wire. The pattern used is simply a few rows of single crochet stitches. 30 gauge wire is used to crochet the bracelet, which is softer and easier to work with compared to my previous patterns. The softer wire, also works wells to create a flexible bracelet.

The video below, by Beaducation, will walk you through crocheting a practice swatch with regular yarn, to crocheting the wire bracelet from beginning to end. It is a long video that is very detailed, so feel free to skip around if it is too slow for you, or pause it every now and then if you are crocheting along.

I’m a huge fan of Beaducation (with no affiliation), and love their tutorials and supplies for jewelry making! What do you think of this video? Did you enjoy crocheting jewelry?

Free Crochet Pattern: Country Chic Jar Cover

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on August 30th, 2017 by Amy Yarbrough – Be the first to comment

I never tire of finding new ways to showcase granny squares! Designing with them always adds a little reminder of tradition to a modern style, and I am always in for a little retro. These little jars are great for holding tealights, or tiny potted plants, like succulents.

The pattern is quick and easy. First you will crochet 4 simple granny squares and border them in a round of white single crochet. Then you will join them using a simple single crochet method. There are tips at the bottom of this post explaining how to make this cover for a different sized jars, too.

Mini jars covered in granny squares are just too cute. I would love to see them lining a long table at a country themed wedding or party, wouldn’t you?!

Free Crochet Pattern: Wire Fashion Ring

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on August 18th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – Be the first to comment

Have you tried crocheting wire jewelry yet? Here’s a simple pattern to crochet your very first ring! While the pattern is super easy, the tricky part is getting the feel for crocheting with wire. You will make all the stitches the same way you would if you were to crochet with regular yarn or thread. But the stiffness of the wire will give your hands a workout. The large crochet hook will help you crochet with the wire more easily and help to create a lacy look. Be sure to check out the Circle Wire Earrings Pattern to create a matching set.

Free Crochet Pattern: Curling Ribbon Flower

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on August 14th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – 2 Comments

Tired of the same old gift bows? If you have an ample supply of curling ribbing, but don’t actually feel like curing the ribbon, try crocheting a quick flower instead. In the same time it would take to curl all of those strands, or possibly even quicker, you can crochet this simple flower. This ribbon flower is crocheted primarily with chains and only uses 3 yards of ribbon, probably less than what you would use for a curly bow. If you don’t have curling ribbon feel free to use any light weight or medium/worsted weight yarn that you have.

Free Crochet Pattern: Key Marker

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on August 12th, 2017 by Rachel Choi – 2 Comments

Can’t remember which key is which? Crochet a few key cozies to mark your important keys. This project is super quick to crochet, using only 1 yard of yarn, any scrap of yarn will do! The marker is crocheted from the top down, seamlessly in the round like a spiral. Place it onto your key, like a miniature hat and poke the very top out of the hole so that it can be reattached to your keychain. The cover is surprising not bulky and is quite durable. It is also easy to remove and place on different keys if needed.
