Pair it with the Doll Blouse and Jumper for a perfect summer day look. Or stick around for something beach-worthy to come! Doll clothes are some of the best gifts for little girls, in my opinion, because of how simple they are to make and how pleased they will be. Re: Doll sun hat: Just what I need – I make lots of doll clothes. I see 2 colors in the picture – is it made with daouble yarn? If so, it doesn’t say so.

    • Hi Mary,

I’m pleased that you like my pattern. There is only one color used. But it so happens that I dyed this yarn in turmeric so that there are a few spots on the yarn were it might be darker than others. Either way, it’s not important. If you would like to use two colors then feel free to improvise! 🙂

  2. Do you have this pattern to fit a smaller head, like for a Ann Estelle doll?

    • Amy says:

      Hello Nyda,

No, we do not have another pattern but I can give you instructions on how to alter this one. It should be pretty simple.

I am not too familiar with Ann Estelle dolls but it looks like the head is smaller than 11″. To get the proper size you will need to experiment but it shouldn’t be too hard.

Rows 2 – 7 are increase rows. These rows will give you the head circumference. By increasing, say only for rows 2 – 5 or however you decide, you will achieve a smaller head circumference.

The rest of the hat will have to match up, so you will need to skip a few more rows in the shaping. For instance, rows 8 – 12 create the length of the hat. Try skipping the same number of rows here as you do for the increase rows.

And lastly, there is the brim, worked from rows 13 – 15. You will just have to see what looks good as you go.

It’s that simple! I hope it works out for you! Let me know if you need any more help.

Hey i was wondering if u could tell me the pattern to make it fit a 14in circumference of the doll head.

    • Amy says:

      Hi Megan,

It’s simple. Just continue the increase starting in Round 2 and ending on Round 7 for a few more rounds. It should widen the head. Try it on the doll as you go so you can judge accordingly.

    • Amy says:

      Hello Heather,
The hat fits a head circumference of 11 inches and will stretch to 12 inches at least. You can measure the circumference of your dolls head to see if it will fit.

      Best Wishes,
