Crochet Pattern: Pumpkin Appliqué

What is it that excites you the most about autumn? The prospect of upcoming celebrations? The decorations? Or is it the changing temperatures? For most of us, it is probably all of it together. We set our scarecrows up in our yards, surrounded by hay and pumpkins, we enjoy turkey and pumpkin pie, and consider how grateful we are for the time God has given us with family and friends. Crochet this little appliqué as an example of your love for the season! P1140983

Skill Level:

Finished Size: 4” (10 cm) x 3 1/4” (8.25 cm)

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn (approximately 8 yards of main color, and 2 yards contrasting color)
Crochet Hook size H (5.00mm)

crochet yarn size 4

Gauge:
7 sc = 2”
7 rows = 2”
Gauge Swatch: 2”w x 2”h (5cm x 5cm) ch 8.
Row 1: sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across: 7 sc
Row 2 – 7: ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across: 7 sc
Finish off.

Crochet Pattern: Pumpkin Appliqué

Body
Round 1: with main color, ch 8, sl st in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, 5 hdc in last ch, turn to work on opposite side of chain, 2 dc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in last ch: 21 sts

Round 2: turn, working in front loops only, skip 1 st, sl st in next st, 2 sc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in each of next 2 sts, sl st in next st, 2 hdc in each of next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, sl st in next st: 27 sts

Round 3: turn, skip 1 st, sl st in next st, sc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in next st, sc in next st, hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next st, sl st in next st: 27 sts

Stem

Finish off, leaving a long end for sewing. Sew stem to top of body with a yarn needle.

    I love this pumpkin. All that I have found have been worked in the round. This one is oblong.

    You come up with the best & cutest ideas I just love the pumpkin. I wish you could see our local city pumpkin patch it’s so beautiful with all the pumpkins in the fields. One year I stop & pulled over to take a picture of it & I was so happy that it came out so nice. That’s what your little pumpkin reminds me of, thanks for sharing you ideas with us.
