Clip in this cute barrette to add a bit of interest to your hairstyle. Back post stitches in the base leave the loops exposed, making it easy to work the spiral. Choose your favorite 2 contrasting colors or make a bunch of barrettes using various colors to match your wardrobe. crochet_spiral_barrette

Skill Level:

Finished Size: 2 1/4″ (5.5 cm) diameter

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn (approximately 5 yards of each color)
Crochet Hook I (5.50 mm)
crochet yarn size 4

Gauge:
Base measures 1 1/4″ (3 cm) in diameter

Crochet Pattern: Spiral Barrette

Base:
Round 1: Make an adjustable ring, ch 3, 8 dc in ring: 8 dc
Round 2: 2 bpsc in each dc around: 16 sc
Finish off and change colors.

Spiral:
Round 1: Starting with the first dc of the base, ch 2, 2 hdc in each st of the base: 48 hdc
Finish off and glue or sew to a barrette base.

    if you have16 sc at end of base, Howdo you get 48 at end fo round 2 by adding 2 st in each ???

      In the spiral, which counts as only one round, you’re doing 2 hdc in each of the 24 sts of the base.
