Earthquake Survivor Doing Crochet!

Maria D’Antuono is a 98 year old women who survived the recent L’Aquila earthquake in Italy. She was trapped for 30 hours under her bed when her house collapsed. After being rescued, reporters asked her how she passed her time. Her answer was that she was doing crochet!

Even at the worst of times, us crocheters don’t put down our hooks! Better yet, it is the worst of times that makes us pick them up. Many believe that crocheting is a stress reliever and that crocheting is what helped this women survive.

    Bless her heart! I think any crocheter will attest to the calming effect that working on a project can have on rattled nerves. I always have something to work on, stashed away in my bag, for waiting at the doctor, dentist, or just riding along on a long trip.

    It sure has helped my blood pressure!!!!

    I can only hope that this brave woman will be OK after her ordeal!!!

      On the news they said that she was in good condition when they pulled her out. Seems like she’s going to be just fine 🙂

    This is a great story. Thanks for sharing it. Now I know that crocheting is good for me even if the doc says to quit it or ruin my wrist!!
