Crochet Pattern: Cozy Shawl Wrap with Pockets

By Rachel Choi – August 11th, 2013 4 Comments
There’s a new pattern in the Crochet Spot Store! Crochet this shawl to wrap yourself in warmth during the winter months. It’s great to wear while lounging around the house, or when you’re out and about. The shawl is a basic rectangle shape that you can adjust to make as long and as wide as you desire. The stitch pattern is repetitive, making it easy and fast to crochet. The pockets have a nice curved shape and uses the same stitch pattern as the main shawl. The bulky weight yarn used in this pattern makes the shawl super warm!

By Caissa "Cami" McClinton – August 8th, 2013 17 Comments

Sometimes we can create different textures and effects by crocheting into unexpected places on our crochet fabric. This week we’ll focus upon how to crochet over single crochets in rows. For the purpose of practicing this skill, we’ll make a small swatch in this tutorial. Yarn and hook size don’t matter for this practice swatch.

You may mouse over images for left-handed views.

Crochet Pattern: Keep Calm Crown Applique

By Amy Yarbrough – August 6th, 2013 14 Comments
There are lots of “Keep Calm and…” sayings going around about many different subjects. I was inspired by the crown and set out to make my own version. The first try was sketchy, so I made some changes. Initially I used thread, and it was straining on the eyes, but when I was finally satisfied, I tried it out in worsted weight and thought it looked a whole lot clearer. So try it in your favourite yarn and tell me what you think! "Keep Calm" Crown Appliqué

Crochet Pattern: Lace Cuff

By Candace – August 3rd, 2013 2 Comments
Crocheted cuffs are a great accessory for any season. Made, with cooler fibers, they can just be jewelry or function as pretty sweat bands. With warmer fibers, they add a little more warmth and can cover that gap between sleeve and gloves. The lace pattern is easy to adjust for larger or smaller wrists. crochet_lace_cuff

Crochet Pattern: Beaded Bangles

By Amy Yarbrough – August 1st, 2013 14 Comments
Essentially, this is a pattern for covering a bracelet with crochet. I used parts from an automotive (my Dad’s a mechanic) but you can use a plain bracelet from the craft store. The stitch count my vary, especially if you choose a band that is smaller in diameter than mine, but the basic idea is to single crochet around the band until you are satisfied, adding your choice of beads at even intervals. Have fun! Beaded Bangles

Get to Know Me! Crochet Spot Blogger, Caissa McClinton

By Caissa "Cami" McClinton – July 30th, 2013 4 Comments

Hello, Crochet Spot Readers! I’ve been blogging here at Crochet Spot since October 2012, but I haven’t yet taken a moment to introduce myself and let you know what I am all about. I hope that this post will open a conversation so that we all can share a bit about who we are!

Although I have been a crafter for my entire life, I started crocheting in 2008. It has become my main hobby since then and I’ve had the opportunity to branch out into designing both here on Crochet Spot and in a new book called Crochet One Skein Wonders. I am the founding President of the first Mexican Chapter of the Crochet Guild of America. We’re called “Ganchitos,” which means “little hookies.”

I have a Master’s Degree in education, but lately I’ve been exploring the world of business in order to learn a different industry. One project that I’ve been working on for a long time is my personal blog, Art, Like Bread.
