How to Crochet Dimensional Eyes for Your Amigurumi

By Caissa "Cami" McClinton – April 2nd, 2013 12 Comments

I got the idea for this tutorial because I decided to participate in a “Monster Swap” with my local stitching group. I used a really cute pattern that called for “safety eyes.” To be honest, I’ve never used safety eyes, I didn’t know where to buy them, and frankly, I didn’t have time to buy them either.

There’s a new pattern in the Crochet Spot Store! If you love granny squares and ripple blankets, you’ll love this combination granny ripple blanket! Ripple patterns are so much fun because they create a neat zigzag chevron pattern with very little effort. Focus on Fiber: Merino Wool

By Caissa "Cami" McClinton – March 30th, 2013 3 Comments

Today we continue our series of yarn chats with an elegant but hardworking powerhouse yarn, Merino wool. Our previous chats include Focus on Fiber: Acrylic Yarn, What’s in Your Stash?, and Yarn Obsession.

Known for its soft durability, Merino wool is a favorite among crocheters. It is quite popular among yarn crafters (and yarn hoarders 😉 ) in general, with over 1.6 million skeins stashed on Ravelry! Merino wool gets its name from the adorable Merino sheep. Originally a Spanish breed, the Merino sheep can now be found all over the world, including South America, Australia, North America, and Africa.

This linked bracelet is easily customizable and fun to wear. You can add or remove links to fit your wrist or your color scheme. It is also simple enough for new crocheters, yet its construction makes it look more complicated. crochet_triangle_link_bracelet

Crochet Pattern: Chick Easter Favor

By Emilee Gettle – March 27th, 2013 4 Comments
My family and I live on a farm. Each spring I eagerly await our baby chicks to arrive in the mail. It is so fun to receive the box from the post office filled with tiny fluffs peeping away. Occasionally we hatch our own birds and it’s my daughter’s favorite time of the day when it comes time to check on the incubators. Regardless of where you live, in the country, on a farm, or in the heart of downtown you can crochet your own baby chick. This project is great for upcoming Easter celebrations. Don’t forget to add a few treats and trinkets inside the pocket.

By Amy Yarbrough – March 26th, 2013 10 Comments
A new twist on eggs and bunnies for Easter, the Egg-Bunny. Complete with stylish top hat.
My little sister watched as I made it, asking me questions like “Is it alive yet?” And I’d say “Not yet, I just have to finish its eyes”, and so on until finally I said “It’s done. NOW it’s alive.” She was thrilled and now she has another bunny to add to her collection! Happy Easter!

Crochet Pattern: Open Shell Triangle Scarf

By Candace – March 24th, 2013 1 Comment
There’s a new crochet pattern in the Crochet Spot Store! This triangle scarf is great for the spring with its open shell pattern broken up by a row of arches. It has enough heft to come in handy on chilly mornings and on cool evenings, yet it drapes nicely and won’t make you too warm. The scarf is crocheted from the top down, with each row getting shorter and shorter as you crochet. The repetitive stitch pattern makes this scarf easy and fast to crochet! crochet open shell triangle scarf

Crochet Pattern: Spring Flower Earrings

By Amy Yarbrough – March 20th, 2013 11 Comments
What could be better than a pair of bright-looking spring earrings to go with that new spring dress? In my opinion, jewelry needs to look delicate and I wondered if it was possible to make yarn earrings look delicate. Even though since then I have found yarn to be an excellent choice, switching to crochet thread will guarantee that delicacy. Spring Flower Earrings
