Crochet lovers and book lovers unite!!! This is for crochet enthusiasts who love to read. There’s nothing like a good book, not only during the summer time but all year long. In crochet, bookmark patterns come in a variety of designs that can help you stay on point with your reading. Crocheted bookmarks are excellent gifts as well. One of the cool things about crocheting bookmarks is that most patterns are fairly easy, so you can do them in high volume if you have the time and desire.

My family and I love vintage clothing. On the weekend you can find us at an antique store or estate sale. While my husband snatches up old tools, I like to sift through boxes, baskets and trunks of old linens. Years ago clothing, quilts and even dishtowels were an art form! Crocheted appliques are a quick and easy way to embelish and personalize your linens. The time commitment is slim to none. It’s a project with instant gratification! This week I created a little mushroom for you to add to your children’s clothing, linens or to make a bobby pin with! |

As with the other invisible decreases, the invisible treble decrease is great for creating a more uniform look in your work. This decrease is done as follows:

There’s a new pattern in the Crochet Spot Store! This little football is a fun toy to crochet for kids, especially if they are football fans. The football is crocheted in the round like a spiral so that there are no seams. The pattern provides tips for making the smooth color changes when crocheting the white lines. The laces of the football are crocheted separately and then sewn onto the football. Feel free to crochet the football in fun colors other than brown and white!

Since it is unbearably hot outside I’ve been enjoying my AC and an afternoon with my crochet hook. I like to add new appliques to my craft stash to spruce up a gift, card, scrapbook or other project for gifting and the holidays. Now is the perfect time to stock up and this project is a great one to add to your arsenal. Cherries are the perfect way to top off a beautiful dessert. From cupcakes to ice cream, cold drinks and pies cherries have the reputation for being the finishing touch to a fine confection! Use this project for an extra sweet handmade accent! |

There does not seem to be many summer clothing options for crochet enthusiasts. Yarn is warm. Summer is warm. So, the two do not seem to go together. However, some things we can do with the crochet creations we already have will assist us during the summer months.
Wearing a wrap or a shawl during the summertime in hot weather is just asking for trouble, so what do we do when we want to flaunt our crochet creations in the mid and late summer heat? We use crochet creations we already have for another purpose.
Here are a few helpful, yet funny ideas for you:

Ruffles and lace, perfect for when you need to add a little extra feminine touch to an outfit. Let the cuffs peek out from the sleeves of a jacket or wear one alone as its own statement. This pattern makes a great introductory project for beginners who want to try lace with its decreasing and increasing pattern. |

The book I, and many others have been waiting for has been published! Several months have passed since 48 people, including myself, participated in the annual “Freeform Challengeâ€. The results are published in the book “Insipired! Music and Art in Fiber”.
I belong to a group of people who do various Freeform works of art, wall hangings, clothing, home décor or anything else you can think of. The group I am with is for discussions on crochet related Freeform only, however many practice other mediums as well.
For the last several years, the group has issued an annual Challenge. A theme is voted on and all are encouraged to participate – veteran or a newbie. There are contributions from all over the world. No language or skill barriers. The given theme is then interpreted as the persons feels inspired to do. Photos of their work are exhibited in an online gallery and published in book form.

There’s a new pattern in the Crochet Spot Store! Pacifier holders are great if you’re always loosing your pacifiers. The end of the pacifier holder that is appliqued with an animal is clipped to the baby’s clothing while the other end dangles with a pacifier. These holders can also be used for small toys, not just pacifiers! Pacifiers and toys can easily be removed from the holder so that they can be washed. The pattern includes the pacifier holder pattern that you can crochet in an assortment of colors, and the 5 animal appliques: bear, dog, cat, lion and pig.
