Crochet Pattern: Alora Earrings

By Candace – September 1st, 2015 4 Comments
This pair of crochet earrings is as fun to wear as they are to make. The chain lace is simple yet pretty, and it’s quick to make. The open shape gives you a variety of options when it comes to how to wear them. Place your earwires in different parts of the earring and orient them differently to see how the look changes. For a popular style, try adding a chain to the open ends and dangling them lace side down. crochet_alora_earrings

Crochet Pattern: Rugged Coffeemaker Cozy

By Amy Yarbrough – August 29th, 2015 2 Comments
Are you familiar with Chemex coffee makers? Years ago, our coffee maker died and we set out to find something better. We have been making coffee with a Chemex for a few years now and we agree that it is the best way to make coffee. All it takes is a kettle for warming water and Chemex filters and you have coffee in minutes. Because of its simplistic style I was inspired to make an easy cozy with pure cotton yarn. Let me know what you think! (Note: depending upon yarn thickness/fiber, temperature of coffee, quantity in pot, etc, cozy may not prevent you from burning yourself). Rugged Chemex Cozy

Crochet Pattern: Rectangle Flower Garden Doily

By Amy Yarbrough – August 27th, 2015 Be the first to comment
This doily pattern fits well on a side table or small coffee table. It can also be used as a placemat. The doily is light and lacy despite using light weight yarn instead of traditional crochet thread. The style blends modern and vintage with easy crochet stitches in an old-fashioned style. 6 Fun Crochet Patterns for the Sukkah

By Caissa "Cami" McClinton – August 25th, 2015 3 Comments

Have you ever heard of Sukkot? Like Hanukkah, it is a Jewish Festival that lasts about a week. Unlike Hanukkah, it takes place during the autumn season. It is a time to give thanks for the fall harvest. During this time, people who observe this festival build sukkahs, which are temporary shelters meant to symbolize the shelters used by Jews during the 40 years of wandering.

During the festival, people spend time in the sukkah, eating there, having guests, and sometimes even sleeping there. Decorating the sukkah can be a fun activity for the whole family. Since Sukkot begins on September 27, 2015 and ends on October 4th this year, there is plenty of time to crochet one of these projects for your sukkah or to share these project with friends who may celebrate the holiday.

Crochet Pattern: Susie Bear Applique

By Amy Yarbrough – August 20th, 2015 6 Comments
Bears are some of the most popular animals to emulate. The “teddy bear” was first created in the 20th century when a cartoonist depicted an incident with President Theodore Roosevelt and an American Black Bear. Since then, stuffed bears have changed in design greatly, but they are still the epitome of a stuffed toy. This latest design follows in others footsteps. It is a bear applique made with easy crochet stitches in a simple design. The embellishments that create the bears features are made up of the easiest embroidery stitches. Cut out a flower from felt, or choose your own hairpiece, for the finishing touch. Susie Bear Applique

Stitches Midwest 2015 Recap

By Caissa "Cami" McClinton – August 18th, 2015 1 Comment

Attending Stitches Midwest for the first time was like going to a crafty playground! There was so much there – so many colors, so many tools, so many people… And we all had something in common – fiber crafting! It was a lot of fun to go to this event, which was unlike any other I have attended. I took classes, shopped the marketplace, and networked. I had a lot of special experiences during the four-day event. There is a lot to process for sure, but I am happy to share a bit of my experience with you here on Crochet Spot.
